I like my headquarters cheap because I think with 4th edition it has become a useless unit. The junior officers have powerfists because I like the models, I know fists are not good on them.

So there it is, all constructive thoughts are more than welcome!

For tournament play, paying 40 points just because you like the models isn't a good option.. otherwise your platoon hqs would act fairly well in an expendable counter assault role. While I'd never expect them to do a lot, maybe the two grunts with lasguns could be made to have LP + CCW's, while not much, it might give you the extra lucky strike you need. JO's should have power weapons and LP's, nothing else when in this role.

Im not a fan of the sharpshooter army. I'd drop this points sink and upgrade all your squads to Lascannon and Plasma guns. For tournies and the amount of marines you will see, nothing else is good enough, although missile launchers are also ok if you are running short on points.

Your veterans look good, although an 8 man footprint when deepstriking close to a tank could be problematic. I do however like the fact that these guys are numerous enough that they can also be used to claim objectives a little more reliably than a 5 man team. My only suggestion would be to get another squad of them. While this would require an additional doctrine, dropping sharp shooters would get you this slot, and probably a fair amount of the points you would need for at least a 5 man squad. Losing the PFists would pay for just over half the points required for this squad.

If you have the points spare, smoke on your tanks could be good.

Other than that the list looks solid. The fact your entire army can infiltrate or deepstrike will serve you well considering the amount of objective based missions you could face and IG's relatively immobile nature. I hope we get to read a couple of your battle reports from the tournament!

What do you think, I think this list is much better. I don't have the money to rupgrade all of the to lascannon plasma, but I think missile launchers and autocannons will cut it.

the ANTI TANK SQUADS are HUGE TARGETS! and allot of pts.

I personally "hide" my lascannons in line squads, and if u make "heavy weapon" squads i would use h.bolters. cheaper, and still just as effective even more so in my eyes.

    Look at it this way.

groups of lascannons can waste shots, allot of the time only 1 lascannon shot will be needed to take down say a dread or a tank. so if they are grouped with 3's the other 2 shots are wasted.

h.bolters squads however are mainly used to take out line squads, so shots are never wasted.

@hardcastle: I think the list is fine. Anti tank squads will always be huge targets, yet even if they are lost, this list still has plenty of heavy weapons in line squads for back up. The fact that these anti tank squads can infiltrate also means they will be in some of the best positions on the board in terms of deployment.
Seeing as this is a tournament list, additionally about the worst Garnoth will see in terms of marine lists packing armour, is things like a LRr, a dred and a pred. Penetrating armour 14 with LC's is still not easy, so grouping 3 shots at a LRr is probably worth it. I know in the past I've thrown 9 or 10 shots at a LRr before finally killing it. When you do kill it, I'm fairly sure that there will be targets such as Terminators/Lords etc that wont be a waste of three LC shots.

@Garnoth: This list is better, my only gripe is in the AC's being used over heavy bolters. Just a personal issue mind, however I always favour the HB over the AC. Far better economics in terms of meq kills, and in a pinch, can drop a rhino or land speeder.
