Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any luck fielding non-mechanised WH lists?
I'm not saying NO tanks, but a list where not every unit is in a tank basically.
A list that uses something other then just normal sisters and flamers.
Noone seems to use Repentia, or Arcos or PEngines and they seem like they would be great fun to field, esp if you can cover them with cheap zealots.(except the Pengines)
So, I was hoping someone would be able to give me a couple 1000 or 1500 point lists that were not so basic -Sisters armed to the teeth with flamers in a vehicle x5- kind of lists. Or do they just not work?
He's coming for you...
Pre codex WH, SOB could not take vehicles for their troops. I used to have success.
Your first problem with a non-mech list is that with only one or 2 vehicles they will get picked off very quickly by your enemies anti tank stuff.
Couple that with our own inability to do ranged stuff without exorcists and you hit the problem.
spending points on repentia, archos and Pengines will draw points away from Faithfull units, reducing the armies effectiveness and given he cost make it fewer in number.
If you want to do a non-mech sisters force then it is possible but you need hoards of sisters, large units are the key. focus on storm bolters and the occasional melta gun. be verry wary of your opponents tanks, particularly more agile ones such as those of the eldar or Tau
Everything you have been told is a lie!
well if you scroll down you will see 3 lists made by me that are like what you want, as to why those units arn't used it's cus they are either overpriced or need a preist in order to use and the preist is both sucky and overpriced, additionally p.engines have to compete with exorcists and retributers
"take my love, take my land, take me to where i cannot stand, i don't care i'm still free you can't take the sky from meee" ;- firefly
"i'm gonna grant you your greatest wish i'm gonna show you a world without sin" ;- serentiy
"I am a leaf on the wind, watch how i soar" ;- serenity
Well to have a sucessful list which is non-mechanised you will have to move away from your all flamer routine.....having all those units just isn't flexible.
Ideally the whole army can move and shoot. Retributors do not fit the bill so I leave them out. Also Bulk out that army. Set points limits for each squad, for foot slogging armies each squad should be about 150-200pts i say depending on what they are.
You want all your units fit two of three things; anti-tank, fast moving and anti-infantry:
For you I would reccomend in a 1500pts list to keep your inquisitor lord at 200pts at most. Prioritize what you want, sages, familiars, medics etc arn't important. You want the damage dealers in there and those supporive types only if you have the points.
For the rest of your army:
Two squads of seraphim up to 200pts each. Give two seraphim twin-flame pistols and give the veteran an evicerator.
Cannoness, suit her up how ever you want and have her lead a squad, make sure she makes a good supportive character. I wouldn't exceed 120pts for her.
Your sisters are your killing force. Have many squads of 10-12. Now some of these can have complete flamers but you want at least one or two to have two meltaguns. I would leave the veterans bare but if you really want to give them gear I would say a limit of 15pts (melta bombs can work quite unexpectedly, just a cheap procaution to take for those all flamer squads). About 150pts per squad.
I'd say one to two exorcists, I beleive you know how these are done. If not these then a squadron of penitant engines are nice. You can even have both 2 exorcists and a squadron of penitant engines (IMO i wouldn't bother with the engines.....too much money for the bother)
This is just a simple review of how i would do a foot slogging army. I played one once, and I would of changed it to something like this if the desire of a mach army didn't take hold.
