    HQ

    Emperor's Champion 140 points
Accept any challenge,no matter the odds
The black sword,Armour of Faith,Slayer of Champions
good start, but you also nead a HQ Character, a Chaplain is a good choice for around 100 pts

    Elites

5 man terminator squad 275 points
    2 cyclone missile launchers,assault cannon,chainfist
Take out 1 weapon and it's not bad. Check the codex carefully!

    Troops

10 man Initate squad +2 Neophytes 400 points
    2 missile launchers,2 snipers,Initates have Artificer armour

10 man Initate squad +3 Neophytes 206 points
    missile launcher,flamer

10 man Initate squad +4 Neophytes 416 points
    plasma gun,multi-melta,Initates have Artificer armour

    1. Troops cannot have Artificer armour. Only characters can buy wargear items.

    2. You can only take 1 heavy weapon per squad. But you have the option of taking a powerfist which is much better, so drop the missiles, multimelta and sniper weapon. Most of the time you will be moving so you don't need heavy weapons to drag along.

    3. You have 39 troops make it into 5 x 8man teams each with melta gun + powerfist and the rest should have Bolt pistol + CC weapon. Other combos are OK but after many many games this is the one I would recommend as the most useful all round combo.

    4. That's a lot of troops so you could consider upgrading some of them to sword brethren or a command squad for some useful options, but read the codex carefully. Usually more troops is better than expensive upgrades.

    5. After playnig a few games consider some of the following options
    Speeders with HB + AC
    Dreadnaught
    Predator HB + LC
    Land Raider Crusader

OK thanks. One other thing are you allowed to make the champion a HQ choice cause I know he dosnt have to be one.

    My 2 cents.

Read the tactica available. They're of great help. As for your crusader squads, there's one missile launcher too many! As mentioned by the Spaceman, only one guy may carry a heavy. Only two models in the crusader squad may carry special weapons, one of whom should be carrying the heavy weapon (heavy bolter, lascannon, missile launcher, multi melta, plasma cannon) and the other ideally an assault weapon (plasma gun, meltagun or flamer). Remember however, BT infantry were meant to be assaulty so if you do plan to come up with a firesupport squad with heavy weapons, they may not move and shoot therefore your assault potential would be wasted. Here's a tactic: Make a nine man crusader squad with BP+CCW attached with Emperor's Champion. Stuff them in a drop pod and during the game, drop them next to a point heavy target. On the turn in which they drop, they may not move but must disembark and may shoot but count as moving, therefore heavy weapons may not fire but assault weapons and bolt pistols have no problems. Assuming you drop 12" or less away from your intended target, soften them up with weaponsfire. Take casualties in the next opponents turn, forcing you to use righteous zeal to move closer to your target, then back in your turn move 6, shoot once with bp+assault weapons and then assault them in the assault phase. With Emperor's Champion, you'll score big time. Plus, the drop pod can giver firesupport if you want to but more importantly, it almost counts as terrain hence giving your squad cover from enemy fire if you placed the pod correctly. Cool?

But if you're still keen on a shooty firesupport squad, remember this. Bolters can rapid fire at 12". If your crusader squad remains stationary the turn after they disembark from a drop pod with a heavy weapon, they can cause serious damage. But of course you'll take more casualties that way...

You might want to consider getting another HQ character and command squad. If you use the baiting tactic with your command squad, a teleport homer might come in handy for the termies in your list for some usefull on site backup. Hope this helps!

Man that's a lot of points for 36 dudes and no vehicles...
    We all carry on,
When our brothers in arms are gone.
    So raise your glass high
    For tomorrow we die,
And return from the ashes you call.
