I woud drop all tanks vs Nids, unless you take a couple of Hellhounds together. Venom cannons will make your tanks unable to shoot for many a turn otherwise. I personally would not take one vehicle, especially at 1000 pts. Instead of the Demolisher and Chimera, take three Veteran squads with Lascannons/Plasma Guns and give more of your troop squads heavy bolters / GLs. Veterans are really nice for infiltrating around the board!

    My two bits.

You might want a better balance between big bug killing and swarm killing. Maybe swap a couple of lascannons with HBs? Roughriders exploit at the best their charge range advantage when they have hunting lances. A lance charge is a one shot weapon, but can waste any creature with I5 or less ( never charge stealers).

You need 2 things in your can of raid
    1) Any weapons that has an ap2. To wound big bugs
    2) Any weapons that has an ap4. To kill everything else.
That means for ap2 lasercannons, plasma guns, meltas etc..
For ap4 heavy bolter is best for that job. We do not get assault cannons (cry)
If you run vehicles you will need 3 of them so 1 or 2 can fire every turn because venom cannon will probably stun or shaken the others.
That should take care of your bug problem.
Goodluck with your can of raid.

    Cheers guys thanks very much

Unfortunately i can only take 2 tanks because i don't ahve anymore models available to me.

the hunting lances as you say aren't very good against genestealers. While i am expecting some hormaguants i'd rather take the meltas and use them against he big bugs giving them an effective 24" range.

While i lack the ability to kill mass small bugs I am expecting my opponent to be on the heavy side of the MC. I don't feel this disables me at all as i still have the two tanks that are both capable of taking out a squad a turn.

24 range? Roughriders move exactly like hormagaunt, they double the charge range, not the normal movement. And if they fleet of foot the shooting is lost.

Yeah I always thought it made more sense for them to move 12" and assault 6"oh well hes right though they only move 6". You also want to drop that heavy flamer for a hb on the chimera and get the multilaser since it has a better str rounds out the chimera giving you 9 shots at 36" 6 str 4 and 3 str 6. Youll never want to get close enough to use that heavy flamer anyways. If you want a Flamer then drop your two Rough Riders squads and get a HellHound much more effective its essentially a super flamer with 24" in range which can toast alot of infanty. You also want to ditch the smoke launchers on the demolisher your going to be shooting that lascannon and those plasmacannon from turn one hopefully so smoke is a total waste. So if you do that you have 3 tanks so you should at least be able to fire one a turn. You may have a few points left over so fill it in where necessary. Now all the points are done you need to remember target priority. HT's are 1st priority followed by any other synapse creature BroodLord Warrior or Zoanthrope(sometimes not a synapse creature). For the Broodlord and HT you want massed Str 6+ weapons. Warriors and Zoans go down easier to alot of small arms fire HB's work especially well on warriors. From then on target priority should be Carnifexs/Close Hormagaunts and Genestealers and whatevers left you have in the bag. The most likely way to ensure victory is if you destroy all his synapse early leaving his troops to take ld tests. Ignore this if he is taking a Nidzilla army with lots of carnis Just focus fire on one thing at a time starting with flying tyrants and long range fexes to cc fexes. Just keep shooting till its dead then move on to the next one. Sorry if I got a little off topic its early:rolleyes:

I read rule this earlier today and found that your Hormagaunts/termagaunts (whatever they are -- the ones with the talons) are beasts and have been moving too fast since day 1.

Compare that to the one game where I have ever fielded my RR and I moved 12 assaulted 6 in turn 1. It doesn't really make a hell of a lot of difference does it?

Against tyranid infantry two HBs are better than 1 multilaser, 1 HB. Multilasers had a role in the past as ripper swarm insta-killers, but with the new synapse rules isd better to go all HB
