The SB on the chappy give you one extra shot before a charge over a bolt pistol. But a bolt pistol gives you one extra attack with the power weapon (Crozius). And the power weapon swing each assault phase. Seems like you are paying a couple of extra points for something that is not as good.

    Well said.

Your chaplain will strike before most opponents anyway, and by the way, a chaplain with rerolls hits 89% of the time, a storm bolter shooting with BS 5 only hits 84% of the time. There is no good reason not to give him a bolt pistol.

I like the Storm Bolter though, what if he gets in as far as possible, only to be out of assault range? A nice fat, juicy Storm Bolter would be better than a Bolt Pistol. Then you could squeeze off another 2 shots in your next turn before charging them... That and he can taunt them a bit more, joining any sqaud he wants to add some morale when needed most, shooting a gew enemies before disembarking and moving on.

Please don't cough at them, Storm Bolters are very useful if one knows how to be a bastard with them. In the above scenario, another 4 84% shots more than make up for 1 less attack at 89%. The difference in those scores? 5%, FIVE PERCENT!!! At 40% it'd be a big gap, but not really at the mid-high 80s. The extra shot makes up for it and can be useful with falling back gunner sqauds.

The Chaplain is being used for the same thing all the time, to dive in and fight in close quarters. This requires getting to the enemy with all manner of obstacles between you. When the Chaplain can fire effectively he's already in assault range. Why not let him have the ability to stand strong at a distance and pummel them with a decent shot at 24" compared the Pistol's doubleshot range of 6", then duck away and support a squad? It IS possible for the Chaplain to be more than just "Give him a Powerfist and join an Assault Sqaud", Kudos to MalSeraph for trying it. It can be a food move, just takes skill and thought, unlike the simple shove him in a close range sqaud and punch away.

The rest of the army is very steady. Me likee. Well done.

Hmm...to storm bolter or not to storm bolter. I thought I'd try it because it's not unlike a termi chaplain getting only 4 attacks a turn. I'll try it out and see how it works.

The rest seems to be okay but I am missing a lot of stuff such as a Dreadnought and Terminators. How can this be consolidated to include these beefy units.

One thing is to possibly remove the Dev sqaud. You've got many many nig guns already, and they're spread pretty well over the army. If not, use only 1 Whirlwind and knock down a single jetarine to get that shiny basic Dread. I dunno. Try it out and then jusge whether it needs the Deathwing helpers.
