This is the culmination of two ideas i had firstly the halftracks and secondly building in blocks. I try to make each grouping in my army 500 pts then i can drop points easily in pick up games and also construct forces easily so here is the following, 500 point combat patrol.
all with COD drill
Jo with laspistol, powersword
commisar laspistol, powersword 114
Halftrack with smoke launchers and PHS 70
half track with smoke launchers and PHS 70
half track with smoke launchers and PHS 70
total 500 points
righty i know the voxes are pointless at the moment but this will be part of a larger force where they wont! i was thinking if i use this as 500 points on its own then drop voxes for plasma or melta in the command.
tactics are to drive forward to a good position jump out (open topped btw) and either rapid fire or just grenade and prepare for counter. the command will stay loaded until it can belt it in jump out and flame then assault or with diff load out make it antitank with meltas. what do peeps think then??
Isn't it kind of pointless to post an army list and ask for advice when you're including made up units that aren't legal to play?:wacko:

um no not really the halftracks are wip so if i dont put them in an army how will i play test them? also i have someone whose agreed to be a playtesting guineapig. JUst ignore the halftracks or think of them as chimeras if you want they are really just underarmed open topped chimeras anyway.
if you were able to interpret Sokhar correctly what he's saying is:
why ask us to comment on a list that none of us are able to completely understand becuase some of the units happen to be the figments of your imagnination.
my point to add to this is since we don't know the rules we can't tell you how to play the game

I understood him fully there was a whole thread about these vehicles and actually there is a second one up now. You might try reading that. i also explained they are just open topped chimeras basically so tactics wise not really that big a stretch ive posted their full loadout etc in the other thread.
Could people please read the codex light tank company thread before commenting as the information is there.
PS: these are the VDR rules so the stuff counts like forgeworld stuff does.
VDR is chapter aproved 2004, which is no longer allowed in the rouge trader tournaments..... While you can still play with them, make sure your opponent knows this, and is ok with you playing them.... becuase even in a friendly game, I wouldn't play against that crap. I only play with GW sponsored game inclusions, such as forgeworld.

I was gonna start off by mentioning that no mechanised 500pt list is friendly..but then I saw the half tracks.With the JO and commisar, why not go with getting them better pistols? @ Jhagadurn, each to their own. i do have an opponent willing to play me and he even wants to help withtheir construction. I'd also prefer it if you didnt refer to them as "that crap" . If you had bothered reading some of my posts you might find i both understand that i cant use them in tournaments and use them with opponents consent. you might also bother to look up their rules and you would find they are actually underpowered for their price. they cost nearly as much as a chimera but have less weapons and worse armour and are opentopped. Sorry if your imagination is lacking but mine isnt. Oh and how is chapter approved not GW sponsered??

@darkreever, i was thinking about doing the better pistols for smaller games would you say bolt pistol or give one a plasma?
I thought that about the missile launchers too but if i got rid of them id have no anttank capability and i thought it might add flexibility. (sit missile unit back and leapfog with the other perhaps?
at the moment they are making interesting debris on my desk!!
