    1000pt IG 3 on 3 friendly

    I am attempting to put together a 1000pt Imperial guard list for a 3 on 3 match. The scenerio will be determined randomly during setup. The armies that will most likely be played are as follows:

    Imperial Guard
    Ultra Marines
    Dark Angels
    Ork
    Tau
    Chaos

    I am uncertain as to which armies will be on the same side as of yet, but either way I'm sure to face lots of 3+ armor saves.

    My list is as follows:

    The plan is for my HQ unit to hide behind terain and either space marines, chaos space marines, or orks and drop a few pot shot mortar blows at lightly armored infantry while maintaining Vox with a leadership of 10.

    The Sentinel will attempt to go armor hunting and possibly wade into close combat if necissary.

    The Stormtroopers will move to engage where needed using the transports to get into position, provide cover, and provide some heavy weapons support.

    The Leman Russes will soak up damage and sling back with lots of artillery.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm a long time hobiest but I haven't had the oppertunity to play much. Let me know if this army list is valid and functional.

    All right, a huge problem is lack of heavy weapons. Another one is price, you have too many bonuses on your squads, drop hardened fighters altogether. Drop almost all your power weapons as well. Get the lascannons out of your tanks for HB, or get rid of the HB's because they just don't fit together. I would add more plasma, and a ML or too, and a hardened vet squad somewhere if you can, with 3 plasma and an ML.

    Taking your request to see more heavy weapons under advisment I have come up with the following adjustment to the list. Would this army list be a better example of what my second list should look like in your opinion? Also back to the origional question, which of the two armies would be best to run in a 3 on 3 game with the above mentioned opponent armies, the grenadiers or the infantry sharpshooters?

    In this incarnation I have removed the Hardened Fighters Doctrine and both of the Leman Russ Tanks in favor of heavy weapons galore. I have extended Sharpshooters to include the Command Squads in the infantry platoons, and removed the power weapon in favor of a storm bolter. I have also moved the command squad mooks from having laspistols to having base lasguns for the range increase, and given each of the command squads a missile launcher for some umff. I also added the Doctrine Iron Discapline to my HQ Commander. I have opted to stay away from plasma weapons due to the fact that I only have a 5+ armor save on any of my mooks and Sharpshooters doesn't work with plasma weapons.

    Keep the tanks, lol. Drop the mortars... they're not even fun to use. Some of your squads got meltabombs and missile launchers in them... Things like that are just taking up extra tanks. I'd drop the commie, he's not really helpful. I'd switch the GL's for PG's.
