Welcome to Librarium Online!
Alright I said I was going to write another and I did. This one is entirely experminatal though so feel free to throw stuff around.
Blood Claws- 15 man, 3 power fists, and a Wolf Guard with Power Fist and bolt pistol= 292 x 3 = 738
Grey Hunters- 10 guys, 5 with bolters, 2 plasma pistols, 2 powerfists with bolt pistols, and a melta gun, all riding in a rhino= 285 x 2 = 570
Venerable Dreadnought- Assault Cannon, Dreadnought CCW, H. Flamer, Extra armor, in drop pod = 200
Wolf Lord- has Frost Blade, Bolt pistol, Belt of Russ, Wolf Tooth Necklace = 131
Rune Priest- has Frost Blade, Storm Shield, Chooser of the Slain, Wolf Tooth Necklace = 125
Space Wolf Scouts= 4 Scouts, 3 with Bolt Pistols and CCW, 1 melta gun, and all with frags and melta bombs
Okay I know I'm kinda lacking anti-tank, but if the enemies not careful those powerfists get nasty. My main problem would be probably getting blasted by ordance but the scouts can take care of that, hopefully.
The Grey Hunters are a screen for the blood claws and as long as I get first turn, will be getting immediatly out of those death traps. The Blood Claws will tear just about anything up and the HQ's tag along helping out, especailly the Rune Priest who uses storm caller to provide cover.
thats a lot of bodies...consider something less cheezy, if not more diverse
That list is hardly cheese.
You will have one hell of a job getting those BC into combat, at 15 strong only a LRC can transport them and thats a nice big lascannon target.
I say drop 2 squads to 9 strong (so the rune priest and lord can join them) .These units will be the main assault units, so they will need the rhino's off the GH.
The other squad should be 9 strong, give them a rhino and wolf guard.
The wolf guard need only either bolt pistol and power weapon or lightning claws.
The plasma pistols on the GH are rubbish, lose them and save some points. Switch the bolt pistols for boltguns since GH aren't meant to do head on assaults, because of true grit they get more use from bolters.
By dropping those extra BC you are left with around 150 points, with those spare points I would get either another dreadnaught or a lascannon predator for heavy support.
That will balance your list out a bit and it won't be so vulnerable.
It's a lot of slogging, but also a lot of bodies to kill while protected by the Rune Priest.
Even if they only reach CC in the last turn they might do enough damage to win you the battle.
I think the list is quite fine as it is. But I do have 2 suggestions/considerations.
1. Upgrade your Wolf Scouts. While your army slogs over they have quite much to do out there. So better give them the bodies to do it. A powerweapon is good too in case the enemy is short on tanks or in case his fire support squads prove a bigger danger.
2. Drop the Rhino's altogether and a couple of Bloodclaws to boot and get yourself a pack of BC Bikers to do some 'work that cannot wait'.
Excellent adavice, Araith. I was considering dropping the Rhinos. Also those blood claw bikers, sound like a very nice idea. Probably won't be able to give them a Wolf Guard but I think they'll do alright. With the scouts I'm considering. It would be nice to buff them up, and I could probably lose a few Blood Claws. I'll have to take a look at the numbers.
Put either your Wolf Lord or your Rune Priest on a bike and you'll do fine. I suggest the Priest. With the Storm Shield and the Chooser he has both an inv. save in CC and the extra attack and that for 20 pts only.Probably won't be able to give them a Wolf Guard but I think they'll do alright.
