i believe this comes to around 1000 points. i mostly play my friends word bearers army, a BA list, and a Cadian list. any comments are appreciated

I'd normally say drop the carapace armour, but concidering you'll normally be facing alot of boltguns I say it's a good idea here.
The list is good but poor doctrine choices.
Carapace armour: justified concidering the circumstances
Hardened fighters: you havent used as far as I can see, swap it for COD
Special weapons teams: concider arming them with plasma, it'l kill off those marines
Heavy weapons platoons: not used either, swap it for iron dicipline
I've got no problems with the rest of the list. good jorb!

Im guessing that your just useing the models you have as your Special Weapons team is a massive waste of points as Grenade Launchers are useless VS power armour and givinging them Sharpshooters just makes it worse, drop this squad for a heavy weapon squad with 3 heavy bolters and put the Sharpshooters here if you like
Carapace Armor is costing you about 70 points in this list and could be better used eleswere but if you want it because your useing a Vostroyan army i guess you need to keep it
I dont think you need all those Lascannons as in 1000 points you wont see many tanks so drop two and put in some heavy bolters as 3 shots is still good enough to kill a marine even if he does get a save
The Leman Russ works better with 3 heavy bolters as you wont waste any shots if you shoot at a tank and the leman is for killing infanty more then tanks, aslo saves you 10 points
Use the points saved one a vet squad with some plsama guns and maybe drop this squad with the drop troops doctrine and you could cause some real pain the turn you land
Lose the Medic and the Vox as you have no voxs in your squads so theres no point in having a vox in your command squads aslo medics are not worth it in 1000 point games, maybe take them for fun in bigger games but not here
Iron discipline is cheaper then a vox network and will still keep your men in the fight longer
Hope that gave you some ideas

FF7: ABOUT RANDOM BATTLES
In 1000 points you could get away with switching those lascannons for Missile launchers, maybe an autocannon or two. Drop sharpshooters in the special weapon squad and you can give them all plasma. Substitute a ML or AC for one of your lascannons and you can switch the squad for a heavy bolter fire support squad. Swap out 3 lascannons and you could get an autocannon squad. Other than that, just keep an eye on your russ since it'll be attracting every anti-tank weapon in your opponent's arsenal, although he might not see av14 coming in 1000 points.

If the tanks succeed, then victory follows.
first thing i will ask before i give my 2 cents. do u plan or don't mind converting vostroyans to access other weapons?
