I've been reading through some of the topics here and looking at all the great input some of you have voiced. And so, I've decided to post my own list that I came up with earlier today.
TLLC & ML-140pts
I believe this is a well rounded army (for GKs) with good manueverability. I know that extra armor and smoke grenades are great for the Dread, but what should I drop to get them if anything? My plan is to attach the Brother Captain to the second troops choice and go from there

Pretty much the perfect 1000pt puritan list, right here. You must have read a lot of my advice already
You could swap the Dreadnought's weapons for an Assault Cannon/Incin/DCCW if you wanted - this would gain you back 15pts, enough for extra armor, smoke, and maybe meltabombs on the FAGK Justicar and some frags on any Justicars (just to use the remaining points). The Dread's DCCW would let it back up your low bodycount GKs in melee - remember that they count as 10 models apiece for purposes of outnumbering! That said, the loadout the Dread has now is fine. Just giving ideas.

Just as an exercise in throwing out ideas, if you would like a 2nd dreadnought to complement the 1st one -- which I like as is -- you could drop 5 GK models (I know! I know! but it leaves you with 3 8-man squads, which is still very good) and get one that is kitted out AC/DCCW, extra armor, smoke. You could also afford extra armor and smoke on that other dread, too, which would be handy.
