    750 pt army ultramarines

    this is my first try at making an army, try not to laugh too much. i would appreciate helpful comments and critiscms. thanks everybody.

    HQ:
    Commander- artificer armour, master crafted bolt pistol, power weapon
    90 pts

    TROOPS:
    Space Marines (x7) - bolters (x6), missile launcher (x1)
    115 pts

    Space Marines (x7) - bolters (x6), lascannon (x1)
    120 pts

    Scouts (x9)-bolt pistol and close combat weapon(x7), sniper rifle(x2)
    127 pts

    FAST ATTACK:
    Land Speeder Tornado (x1)-heavy bolter, twin linked assault cannon

    Your 1st army list? Okay, that'll explain the following:
    • The captain costs 111pts, not 90. Bolt pistols cost 1pt & Ficer armour costs 20.
    • Land Speeder Tornados cost 80pts and the Assault Cannon isn't twin-linked.
    • There is a Hunter-killer Missile & Searchlight. on a Vindicator. Those things should never see the light of day. The Pintle Storm Bolter has the same range as the Demolisher cannon but to much less effect, scrap it too.
    Just by fixing those mistakes, your army still costs 756pts. When you advertise to cost xpts, don't end up costing over. I suggest having 2 Missile Launchers instead of a Lascannon.

    Yeah. It'll fare alright.
    At 750pts, don't expect to kill too much, but then again, don't expect there to be that much to kill in the 1st place. It all balances out.

    You have nice numbers for your total. My usual army is 3 times the size but only 2 times the number. And bodycount is needed with us Marines.

    Looks pretty solid. A few suggestions, though.

    - Master craft your captain's power weapon, not his bolt pistol. The pistol hits on 2's at range as it is, and you won't get the reroll in combat unless the sword is master-crafted.

    - The scouts. Your equipment seems confused. If you really want those sniper rifles, get the rest bolters instead. Otherwise ditch the sniper rifles and keep the unit mobile.

    If you drop the sniper rifles, consider lascannons in place of those missile launchers in the tactical squads. The frag missiles don't give you much of an edge, while the extra AP and S of the lascannon is well worth having.

    Consider dropping all the extras on the vindicator, and the master-crafting on the Capt, and give the vindi the Power of the Machine Spirit upgrade. That should go some way to keeping it in the fight. You want to get off as many shots as possible with that thing!

    Keep in mind, though, that a "weapon destroyed" result makes it an up-armored Rhino with no transport capacity. Might want to consider a Pred Annhilator unless you're in a cityfight.

    As was said before get rid of the pintle storm bolter and the HK missile on the vindicator they are a waste of points. Give the vindicator POTMS and a crew stunned won't matter as the demolisher cannon doesn't care about BS. Rest of the army looks good. A great tactic for a vindi with POTMS is to run it up and either find cover or blow smoke. Next turn start launching those ever so glorious srt 10 blasts into the heretics!

    So what; now most to all of the advice posted after the third incarnation of your list is useless? (Since most to all of that advice will be for a marine list using the current codex and not the previous one.)
