i think the second list is a bit stronger, but may i suggest that you beef up all your assualt squads to have more men. it might mean fielding less squads, but it will make each squad more resilient and better at close combat. also, i would suggest you try to fit in some more long ranged anti tank stuff if you can fit it in there, becuase that is all that list is missing. i suggest that even though you can take all those assualt squads, i would limit yourself to only taking 3. spend the saved points on getting a few more fire support squads or a devastator squad and whatever else you could spend the remaining points on.

Im not a big fan of either.

List 2: if you want that many assault marines play blood angles!

List 1: play Dark angles, for 20 points your landspeeders pick up a 6+ invunerable, and your troops will never fall back from shooting, ever.

(but youd have to lose all the apolithicaries, which would be a good thing, those are a waste of points)

Hey, you're the one asking for advice, don't be mad when someone gives you some...

List 1 has too many apothecaries. Ideally, I think you'll find apothecaries useful in command squads with plasma of the gun or cannon varieties as the chances of rolling a 1 to hit, then blowing the armor save, then blowing it a second time with the apothecary's helpful ability are pretty slim. You're a little light on model count in my opinion and could use some of those points better elsewhere.

List 2 has virtually no anti-tank aside from the meltabombs and a couple of MLs. Ever try to hit an LST with a meltabomb?

Aside from that, it's a very interesting list. I've never played against a list so assault heavy. The problem is though you're going to run into lists that are vehicle heavy (IG, Tau, some Eldar, etc.) that you're going to have a really hard time even dinging the opposition assuming they do the usual good player stuff like always moving their vehicles six inches, etc.

If you could fit in a ML dev squad or even a tankhunter dread or an LST, I think you'd be on to something. As it stands now though, I think you'd have a hard time winning consistently with it unless you play footslogging armies exclusively.
    We all carry on,
When our brothers in arms are gone.
    So raise your glass high
    For tomorrow we die,
And return from the ashes you call.

Thats not a friendly response on a forum that prides itself on being friendly. Forged is definitely one of the good guys! Don't confuse a frank and honest opinion for abuse!

Personally I think Forged has given you good advice. Apothecaries are a big point sink for not very much. If you want to go shooty you could play Dark Angels or a straight Codex chapter. Blood Angels are a good assaulty army - you could make pretty much the same list except you would have free furious charge for every model.

Space Wolves would be a good balance between shooty and assaulty.

Overall, I prefer List 1 but you could do it as Dark Angels and you would get Intractable marines. I'd remove the apothecaries from the squads and use the points elsewhere - maybe plasma guns in each squad for a start. I think a shooty list would also benefit from a dreadnought if you can fit one in - you could drop one of the three speeders for most of the points if you wanted. I used to field 3 speeders but they die quite easily.

Overall I think list 1 is the better starting point but it still needs work.

I wasn't actually going to post in this thread but I felt it necessary to point out to you that there was no need to be rude to Forged - he offered you his advice and justified his reasons for giving it. If you don't want the advice of people in the forums don't post asking for it!

    Peace.

LIst 2 really needs support. I have played with a few less Assualt marines than taht and found i really needed supporting fire. On the flip side it would also scare the crap out of most opponents.

List 1 needs more cc power. I would drop 2 of the tac squads, and remove the apothecarys in the other squads. Then add in plasma guns in the four remaining squads. Take the master and give him a jump pack. WIth the points from the 2 deleted tac squads add an assualt squad witha vet sarge w/ PF, 2 PP, and as many bodies as you can field. WHile chaplian led Assualt squads are very good, i would stick with the master for leadership purposes. You are going to make a lot of saves, so make them on the best leadership you can.
