    660 point Blackbird Squad - NOT termies

    Okay, so I finished buying everything SM I'm going to buy, and got it all set up in squads. And then I had all these leftovers. So, I decided to build an elite squad, the SEAL team for the Stormcrows Chapter. something over the top and awesome. So was born the Blackbird squad. At 660 points for basically marines, I wouldn't use it in anything less than 2000 points, if at all. Here they are;

    40K unit (11#, 659 Pts)
    1 Reclusiarch
    Rosarius; Command Squad; Crozius Arcanum; Plasma Pistol (x1); Furious Charge
    1 Bionics
    1 Rosarius
    1 Terminator Honors
    6 Command Squad
    Terminator Honors; Bolt Pistol & CCW (x4); Meltagun (x2); Frag Grenades; Furious Charge
    1 Company Standard Bearer
    Terminator Honors; Plasma Pistol (x1); Power Fist (x1); Frag Grenades; Furious Charge
    1 Holy Relic
    1 Company Banner
    1 Company Champion
    Terminator Honors; Lightning Claw (x2); Frag Grenades; Furious Charge
    1 Artificer Armor
    1 Bionics
    1 Combat Shield
    1 Master-Crafted Weapon
    1 Sergeant
    Terminator Honors; Plasma Pistol (x1); Power Fist (x1); Frag Grenades; Furious Charge
    1 Drop Pod
    Storm Bolter; Deathwind Missile Launcher
    1 Power of the Machine Spirit

    Total Roster Cost: 659

    So, this unit deepstrikes behind enemy lines, using the drop pod as cover. Then it makes its way to the enemy lines. IF I charge with this beast, AND reveal the Holy Relic AND still have all the members of the unit (i.e. best case scenario), this is how it would go;

    Move 6 inches
    Shoot 3 plasma shots and 2 melta shots
    [DELETED]

    Now, I am certain some things could survive that. But not many. Worth the point cost? Heck, I'm even tempted to say no to that. Is it worth the cool factor just to put it together though?

    I did have one question - are the Standard Bearer and the Champion considered ICs, or not? Because if not then I'd take the Artificer Armor and Bionics off of the Champ.

    Inquisitor Lord Nicodemus is handed a data slate. *he looks throught the data slate* there is shock on his face, but as fast as it came it was gone. Inquisitor Lord Nicodemus tell the serviator to get a Gand Master from the Ordo Malleus.

    Nice left overs. I think we all would like to have left oves like that. Oh yeah I do not want to be on the reciving end of that unit.

    :w00t: Thanks guys!! Yeah, they look great and all, and if they get into CC, you got problems. Of course, there is another way to look at them;

    -a 22 man squad of Necrons uses VoD to deep strike behind them, firing 44 rapid fire shots, and killing every last one... =(
    -a Hammerhead drops that submunitions pie plate on top, killing every last one...
    -a 9 suit Tau Stealth team shuffles out for 27 BS X Str X shots, also killing every last one...

    They still only have TX, +X saves for a cost close to termies. But hey, you can't plan for every contingency, right?

    And Atlantian, most of the left overs came from my assault squad. The sprues come with an extra set of torsos. All I had to do is buy legs and use spare parts :yes:

    Do you guys know whether the Standard Bearer and the Champion count as ICs or not? May affect how I organize the unit.

    No they are not an IC. They are part of the Command Squad. It tells you what items they get.

    Dude, for the Standard Bearer, Company Champion, they don't have access to the armory, so no special stuff for them besides Terminator Honours.

    Please read page 29 of the SM codex, in the Command squad entry, right below the descriptions of the three Specialists - the sentence begins with "All specialists..." :yes:
