This list was one i came up with for fluffy trench warfare but also not completely useless. Its kinda a WW1 theme not just in trenches.

So what do people think. fluff wise i like it. i dont think itd be that great on the battlefield but it might just surprise a few opponents with the melta squad moving a minimum of 19" to get to that tank. The whole idea is to advance the conscripts with the platoon command giving them leadership. then thisll tie up the main area. I then use squads 1-4 to leapfrog forward a bit (thats why there is 2 of each) squad 5 is for harrasment and the bassies well theyre fun.
The two 8 men RR squads will charge into the main line to finish off the squads the conscripts have tied up. The main command hides wherever and gives leadership to the main line squads. I do understand if they take out the conscripts il have a hard time but i like the fluffynes and dont care if i lose more than i win.
I like the fluffiness. I can actually imagine those artillery pounding on enemy trenches while the troops pour in...
Leap froggin' with Heavy Weapons, never would have though of that. Nice one Commissar. But wouldn't that make only 1 H.Bolter/Autocannon every turn? A bit low on the firepower...? Of course you have your Fire Support Squad, but on the main field...?
I was thinking that i could leapfrog the weapons as a last resort or if i broke their line to fill the gap see even has fluffy tactics!! lol. thatd mean the firepower loss wasnt such an issue.
Cavalry? In a trench Warfare list? Trench warfare was the reason cavalry were removed from the battlefield. xD A Machine gun in a foxhole would own Cavalry wholesale.
Trench warfare list cos people understand that more than a WW1 list. lol. so cavalry very fluffy. cavalry were still being used right into the second world war anyway! they may not have been effective but that didnt stop them polish.... Its a good thing il hide them away from those heavy bolter nests then :shifty: . it was an excuse to get RR in il admit but hey who can blame me they are just so good when you charge and with three units one is going to charge at least!
Well, I can see some bad things happening... One, while your conscripts are advancing with your Platoon HQ, what's to stop someone from passing a leadership test and icing your Platoon HQ first turn? Then you have a big mass of LD5 Conscripts who are all about to pee themselves. One Infiltrating Dev squad with Heavy Bolters or Plasma cannons obliterates your Platoon HQ (12 Heavy bolter shots, 8 hits, 5-6 wounds, No Saves...) and then his assault squad jumps in, mauls everything around them, forces you to make a morale check at Ld5, you fail and he massacres 50 models in one blow.
The reason Independent Commisars works is you can't single them out for shooting purposes. Not the case with a Platoon HQ.
However, the rest of your army, I like. 3 Basis might be difficult to hide though. >>;;
you see i really wanted an indie commisar but i dont have the doctrine points or the normal points so im going to try putting the platoon in cover where possible or hide them within 12" sneaky but I only need to touch one conscript with the bubble for them all to use his leadership. I can see this being a problem and assaulty armies esp possesd LATD (the list my mate is creating at the mo) im going to get killed so fast. Howd you reckon itd do in trenches though?
perhaps replace the RR with heavy weapons squads?
Trenchy trenches? Yeah, load up on guardsmen and heavy weapon squads. Might consider dropping a Basi in favor a heavy weapon platoon. Two basis are easier to hide than three anyway. xD
Maybe take the Veterans Doctrine and take three vet squads with plenty of firepower. Use the infiltrate to let them deploy last so you can get good fire-arcs on your opponent's critical units.
Maybe drop the Light Infantry in favour of Ind. Commissars?
