Ok, so I wen't crazy with some birthday money and bought a Smurf army on ebay, and now I've got a game coming up next weekend against my friend's Steel Legion (and an army which I've got no experience playing with a limited selection of models). So here we go;
Cleanse and Purify
No Mercy, No Respite
Eye to Eye
Space Marine Captain
Jump Pack, T. Honors
Power Weapon, Bolt Pistol
Frag Grenades, Melta Bombs
Master of Sanctity
Frag Grenades, Bolt Pistol, T. Honors
5xCommand Squad Marines
Sgt. w/T. Honors and Power Weapon
2xMarine w/Bolt Pistol and CCW
Assault Cannon and Dread CCW
Extra Armor, Smoke
9xBolt Pistol and CCW
Sgt w/T. Honors and Power Weapon
Sgt w/T. Honors and Lightning Claws
So, here's the plan: The scouts infiltrate up close to his lines (hopefully in cover) and give his chimeras (and maybe his russes) something to shoot at besides my transports. If they don't get slaughtered by turn 2 they'll be tying up at least one heavy weapon in CC and blocking LOS if I'm lucky. Terminators and dreadnought lumber down the field and basically look menacing (and take heat off of more fragile units), although those assault cannons will be bad for guardsmen and chimeras. I'd love to field the dread with missiles/lascannon, even possibly as a venerable, but I'm not entirely sure where to get the points from. The Tac squads will race down the field as fast as they can before their transports get blown up; I'm having reservations about the razorback, but I like having extra lascannons since I know he'll have a lot of tanks. The bikes and the assault squad serve a similar purpose; get as close as possible while staying out of LOS and then pop out and kill a tank or some infantry (before being obliterated by a single ordinance round). Now, the chaplain with command squad will hitch a ride in the Land Raider. Thats a big target, with a lot of points in it, and it's going to attract a lot of fire. Fire that won't be on my other units. And if it doesn't attract a lot of fire, it'll pop a tank or two on it's way down the field and then it'll disgorge six very angry marines into the middle of his lines.
I'm considering a few changes to the list as well. I might proxy the razorback as a regular rhino and use the points to change weapons on my dread, or somewhere else. I'm also thinking about changing the command squad to a vet squad if it'll save a few points (drop the extra T.Honors, add a power weapon marine and a C&P meltagun). I've also got three missile launchers, so I could make a sort of poor-man's dev squad, just to have another long-ranged threat (since most of my units need to get up close to do anything)
Thanks for reading.

Eye to EyeFine, consider upping him to a master for increased survivabiliity and ld10 for your whole army.Originally Posted by BannedInFranceFine, its good to see someone using chaplain without a jump pack and assault squad.Originally Posted by BannedInFrancehere's what i dont like... drop all those termie honours, swap the power wpn for a fist, and drop those frags, and give furious assault to that chaplain, its a steal for so few pts... im guessing they'll be packed up in the land raider?Originally Posted by BannedInFranceGreat, consider making it venerable or hellfire (hellfire=lascannon,ML,tank hunters, venerable)Originally Posted by BannedInFranceAwsome, if you have spare pts, a combi plasma on the sgt is deadly.Originally Posted by BannedInFranceswap that melta for another plasma, and include a vet sgt wit power fist.Originally Posted by BannedInFranceFlamers on troops that move 6" a turn.... thats a no no. What i would do is swap them for a 5 man squad with lascannon and keep the razorback, will give you great AT. (just dont embark the squad in the razorback)Originally Posted by BannedInFranceI wouldnt bother with frags, and again swap the pwr wpn for fist, also give the sgt a teleport homer to call in those termies nice an close to enemy lines.Originally Posted by BannedInFranceGood, I have and use a unit like this, its very effective and will draw a lot of fire, yet i rarely see other people using this squad.Originally Posted by BannedInFranceJust try to beef up the numbers to 8 or more, also maybe meltabombs on that sgt in case you get charged by a dreadnought or killa kanOriginally Posted by BannedInFranceI like them, a lot dont, use it if you like to. (has this strange coolness factor for a land raider.Originally Posted by BannedInFrance
(also remember all weapons can fire after moving 6" (lascannon and HB at normal BS, then use PoTmS to fire other lascannon)sounds like you know what your doing, good luck! and a very solid list you have created!Originally Posted by BannedInFrance
