    Team 1000 pts fanatic tournament

    This list is for a team 1000 pts tournament (500 pts each). After much debating, heres what me and my 'partner' came up with;

    My army:

    Captain
    terminator honours
    stubborn
    power weapon
    bolt pistol 96

    Command squad (5 man)
    2x plasmagun 95

    Tactical squad (6 man)
    plasmagun 100

    Tactical squad (6 man)
    plasmagun 100

    Tactical squad (6 man)
    Lascannon 105

    Total: 496

    DA rules

    My friend's army:

    Captain bolt pistol power weapon 76

    6 marines
    lascannon

    6 marines CCW+pistol
    sarge w/pf
    1 flamer

    8 marines CCW+ pistol
    sarge w/pf
    1 flamer
    All have furious charge

    We decided to take as much bodies as possible. Cramming in some special weapons in my list whereas letting his squads being more CC aimed to back me up while advancing. What you all think?

    As a small thing consider droping a Marine from the 6 man squad with Lascannon and adding a Heavy Bolter to each of the Plasma Gun Tactical Squads.

    Heavy Bolters are good, cheap weapons and very useful v's non-MEQ toughies. You have lots of Plasma/Bolters but neither are at thier best against Tau for example.

    Look at the Command Squad v's the Plasma Tacticals, your paying 5pts more for 1 less Plasma Gun, throw in the H.Bolters and it's a much better deal.

    Are you playing 'Combat Patrol' rules? I see no 3 wounds, 2+ saves or av33+ vehicles but you don't say.

    If your Master is running with a shooty Command Squad maybe a Combi-Plasma Gun to give him some bite at the same ranges as the rest of his squad?

    Your friend should let you, the Intractable DA player do the shooting.

    If he were to consolidate and enlarge his squads to 2x10 Man it would be better, 20 SM are alot harder to stop than 14. Give them another melta to acount for the lost Lascannon and you don't lose much kill-power.

    That gives you 20 Combat Marines led by a Captain supported by:

    4 Plasma Guns
    2 Heavy Bolters
    1 Lascannon
    1 Melta
    1 Flamer

    As opposed to 14 Combat Marines and Captain supported by:

    4 Plasma Guns
    2 Lascannon
    2 Flamers

    good advice, but perhaps I should have stated this as well;

    All missions played will be Cleanse / Omega, including night fight, escalation, table quarters, objectives - the whole package one could say.

    This requires a mobile army, which is why I chose not to take heavy bolters. They are nice, but I will have to move around a lot, so they won't be able to fire much.

    Ah, I didn't realise this would be a somewhat specialised scenario.

    Heavy Bolters don't waste that many points and can come in handy. When your moving at long range Bolters/Plasma can't fire so you use nothing.

    With the Command Squad and 2 big Tactical squads you have good objective taking anyway.
