Any comments or ideas as to what I should spend the remaining eighty points on? My model count has stayed almost exactly the same with the exception of adding in three commissars and five vehicles.

[As always I'll point out that MEQS are not my main opponent, GEQS and FEQS are.]

A griffon if you're allowed to take them. Otherwise I'd go for a commissar in the command squad, keep those heavy weapons in line.

I'd do something like that but then wouldn't the command squads ability to deepstrike via drop troops be clashing with the fact that the commissar can't? I've made that one a true suicide squad because the higher than normal guardsmen leadership decreases my need for the leadership bubble (especially now that the grenadiers are mounted and therefore faster than the command squad anyway.)

Advisors get whatever their squad has for no extra cost. However if you deepstrike that HQ, your Support weapons will take the opportunity to run away when the bullets start flying their way.

At least give your commissars power weapons. That would help greatly in close combat.

Added in the power weapons (and a fourth commissar), though to be honest I'm not putting my money on them doing that much. If those three units see close combat then they will probably be on the loosing side of it bar being in cover in which they stand a slight chance.

Don't give up hope just because your army is in close combat. Attack with everything, and you can overwhelm enemies, especially if you attack one unit at a time.

Oh no its not that I've given up hope or anything; I just don't hold the fantasy that vs most of the races I play they will hold up for very long if they get charged...

I mean with luck and/or cover any of those three squads could easily last several rounds of combat its just that I don't uphold the fantasy that they will own anyone or expect to come out of most combats unharmed.

Oh, I'm not under the impression that they won't get torn to shreds. However, they can deal enough damage to either win the combat after some losses or at least damage what charged them.

You know, if you drop those Plasmaguns from the HQ (which are kinda pointless as they will get the unit shot up and you need it very much alive for the LD) you can with that spare 80 points afford a Hellhound. That would be really useful, especially when you point out that your main opponents are not in fact MEQs.
