I have got a 1500 pts guard army list where more doctrines are being used but i want to play test what i got first before buying anything else, these are the only 'used' ones at the moment.
Most of my friends collect marines/necrons so it is kind of geared up for playing them but hopefull could fight hord armys too.Doctrines

80 ptsInfantry squad 1a
75ptsInfantry squad 1b
4x plasma gun
80ptsInfantry squad 2a
75ptsInfantry squad 2b
3x plasma guns
3x plasma guns
3x melta guns
heavy bolter sponsors, hull
160 ptsFor my 1500 i would be adding many vehicles to this infantry core as well as some support squads.
Howver i was wondering whether to drop the russ as it'll just draw too much fire at it before my deepstikers can neutralise any anti tank weapons. So would have to hide it for the first few turns prehaps.
Remove some plasma guns from your command squad and put them in your infantry squad...
Guardsmen die very quickly and you first want to remove your lasguns and then the plasmaguns... In the command squad you dont have a choice
ow, and bad luck...
Remnants can't have heavy weapons
and take a look at your HQ again for weaponchoices, look at the other lists
thx for the advice, ill most likely change th command platoon for leadersip purposes
the remnants also have been chaged to have melta guns, being deep striked for tank killing
however this was the plan with the other command squads :
the command squads and vets are suicide squads, when i deep strike them, they go right next to devastator squads and 3+ save infantry, they take out as much as possible and hopefully distract my opponents advance long enough fro the heavy to carry on firing.
because normal guard cant have that concentration of AP2 weapons.
It may need refining but does it sound ok
Turn the Russ into a Basilisk, on it's lonesome it will have to face too much firepower.
Does you friend have a monolith? As that would justify grabbing a couple of Lascannons.
I'd also drop the remnants squad and used the points saved by changning over to the Basilisk to buy a Special Weapons squad. Democharges are always good fun.
