    [1000]Pure Daemonhunters Army

    Now a 1500 point army!

    Updated list:

    HQ: GKGM + MCNFW + 4x GKT - 344 points

    Troop #1: 10 (9+1) PAGK + 1x Psycannon - 305 points

    Troop #2: 10 (9+1) PAGK + 1x Psycannon - 305 points

    Fast Attack: 10 (9+1) PAGK - 275 points

    Heavy Support #1: GKD + TLLG + Missile Pods + Smokes - 143 points

    Heavy Support #2: GKD + TLLG + Missile Pods + Smokes - 143 points

    Total: 1515

How does it look? I'm a big DoW: DC player, and this is my first TT army. How can I improve this 1500 point army? What can I drop?

I'm not exactly an expert on building GK lists myself, but I've come to learn a few things so far from being on LO.
    HQ

    GK Grandmaster + MC NFW
First off with the HQ, Generally a Grand Master is a bit too expensive for such small point games. He is a great model but it is a bit too many points invested in one model that can be easily killed with a lucky shot from a lascannon. I'd say downgrade it to a Brother Captain, and make sure to stick him with one of your squads to prevent him from being singled out and shot at.

    Troop

    Toop #1:

    5+1 GK + Justicar + Psycannon + Targeter

    Toop #2:

    5+1 GK + Justicar + Psycannon + Targeter

    Toop #3:

    5+1 GK + Justicar + Psycannon + Targeter
Generally when playing Grey Knights, you want to get as many models as possible. Usually this means leaving the special equipment alone. This means psycannons. The problem with psycannons in your troops is that the model pays extra points to lose the benefits of the NFW and True Grit.

Not only that, these squads seem like they'd be very mobile, and as such, the psycannon's effective range becomes limited, lowering the volume of shots. What you can do is make one squad the minimum size, and then load up two of the grey knights with psycannons and keep them in place.

Also, you could move one of these squads into the Fast Attack Slot. The benefit in doing that is that you don't have to deep strike them. You can place them on the board as normal, but you have a better chance at getting them in a better position in the deployment phase if they're in the fast attack slot.

    Heavy Support

Dreadnought + Twin-linked Lascannon + Missile Launcher + Smoke Launchers
This is good, though the only change I'd make here is to add extra armor. Other than that, seems quite good.

I hope I've been some help.

    Thanks a lot man.

How would it look with 2 Troops and 1 FAGK squad.

    Updated list:

    HQ: BC + 4x GKT - 245
    Troop #1: 7 GK (6+1) - 200 points
    Troop #2: 7 GK (6+1) - 200 points
    Fast Attack: 7 GK (6+1) - 200 points
Heavy Support: GKD + TLLG + Missile Pods - 140 points

    Total: 985

What should I do with the 15 points I have left?

    king's advice was pretty good.

My 1000pt list would look something like this:

HQ: BC + 4 Grey Knight Terminators

    Elites: Inquisitor + Psycannon

    Eversor Assassin

    Troops: PAGK Squad, Justicar + 4 Grey Knights, + 2 x Psycannons

PAGK Squad. Justicar + Teleport Homer + 8 Grey Knights

    Heavy Support:

    Dread + TLLC + ML + EA + Smoke + Searchlight.

The idea is that the =][= goes with the first PAGK squad and is a great firebase. The second squad marches forward with Stormbolters blazing and can call in the Termies if need be.

The Eversor is usefull as a well placed counter assault squad that prevents enemy movement and is usefull at taking out vehicles.

If you don't want the =][= and Eversor, more PAGKs and another Dread are what I would add.

If I wanted to bump it up to a 1500 army WITH a GK Grand Master, what would be my options?

    Thanks so much for helping.

I would make sure you make the PAGK squads bigger, (all walking and FAGK squad should be 10 troops).

I would also make sure that you have 2 TLLC/ML Dreads

That will eat up your extra 500pts, LOL:wacko:

Myself, I don't use GKTs beyond a necessary dreadnought-unlocking BC (usually with a psycannon, too), and use the points normally spent on GKTs in the retinue on more models. ISTs, GKs, shooty inquisitor retinue, Seraphim, .... All that other good stuff that I feel is more necessary than the termies at only 1000 pts. I feel that it just concenetrates too many points into too few models at this level.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

So what would you suggest in a 1500 GK army with GM + Terminator Retuine?

    I think I'll go with:

    HQ: GKGM + MCNFW + 4x GKT - 344 points

    Troop #1: 10 (9+1) PAGK + 1x Psycannon - 305 points

    Troop #2: 10 (9+1) PAGK + 1x Psycannon - 305 points

    Fast Attack: 10 (9+1) PAGK + 1x Incinerator - 295 points

    Heavy Support #1: GKD + TLLG + Missile Pods + Smokes - 143 points

    Heavy Support #2: GKD + TLLG + Missile Pods + Smokes - 143 points

    Total: 1535

I'm a little over 1500, can someone advise? What should I remove?

Drop one of the Psycannons from a PAGK squad and give it to the other and make the squad a bit small. I don't like only one Psycannon per squad. Either give them two or no special weapons.

I would also drop the Incenerator in this list to save the other points.

So the smaller squad of PAGK should have 2x PsyCannons or should the bigger troop have it?
