2,000 pt. Blood Angels Rogue Trader Tournament Roster

I have been using this list at my local hobby store in preparation for a Rogue Trader that is coming up. I know several people use Nurgle Death Guard, regular Imperial Guard, and the new Eldar. So far this list has wiped out an ultramarine army to the man, gotten a victorious slaughter against 'nilla marines, and has drawn against a marine-heavy Nurgle Death Guard army (with one Demon Prince and one Great Unclean One).

Any tips/advice/critiques would be greatly appreciated.

    PS: Yay! My first post!

Obviously I took a lot of Veteran Sergeants so that if I get lucky and pull Death Company from my squads (50% chance per squad) I'll pull that vet sgt and get a Death Company marine with either a Power Weapon or a Power Fist out of it. As it is I already get at least 8 death company in this army.

Hi. Welcome to LO. Please read our forum rules, which you can find in my signature, and follow them. Don't post individual points costs - I have gone ahead and edited your post to a more suitable format. Thank you.

I like your army composition. Lots of troops for a MASSIVE DC, jump packers to act as main hammer unit and some fire support. Very tourney-type list. Good one.

However, some things need pointing out. =)

Veteran Assault Squads are useless. For X more points over an Assault squad you get a boost to Ld...which is completely pointless. And im pretty sure you got their points wrong...how can one squad come out at 392 points!!?? I'd suggest you take the 260-pt Assault squad format:

    10 Assault marines
    -7 w/bp+ccw
    -2w/plasma pistol+ccw
    -V. Sgt. w/PF+bp

WAY MORE hitting power for...50% less points ==".

Because this takes up two FA slots, i'd recommend you switching the LS and taking Baal Preds. They're much better at fire support and much mre survivable - definitely BA's best friend.

You also need to beef up the CC scout squad. 5 will not last long, esp. if you lose 1 or 2 to DC.

Sniper scouts also need to be larger to be effective. you always want to be able to cause pinning tests against troops and to cause at least 2-3 wounds agaisnt monstrous creatures.

    hope i helped =)

Actually, Veteran Assault Squads have the option of buying Terminator Honors at 10 points per model. This means that on the charge, my vet assault squad has 40 S5 I5 attacks instead of 30, thus the extra points costs. I do agree with the Baal Predators though, however I don't own any. I will definitely consider asking for them for Christmas...

I agree entirely. I'm actually trying to work something out where I have 8 snipers in one squad, and 8 regular scouts (one with a missile launcher) in another. Maybe 8 marines in each of the tactical squads would do it? I usually try to keep them back to be able to keep some points on the board while blowing things up with the Lascannons and the Plasma Guns.

Thanks for the comment. I'll look into getting those predators...

Oh im sorry Sons - i didn't see that your Vets have Term Honours. My bad.

However, even tho now i know they have T. Hons i would still recommend you drop them. They're ~40pts per model and they die just as easily as normal marines. Your Vets will become the biggest fire magnet on earth =) - remember that if you insist on using them!

3 of those 260-pt Assault squads would IMO do better than your 2 mega Assaulty Vets of Doom squads. At least you have 50% more bodies to shield those all important PFs. Plus much better shooting. 6xPPs are not to be snuffed at.

    No problem.

Oh trust me, I know. I usually end up losing them but my 2 Death Companies are right behind them and end up charging in for the kill.

Agreed. However, Land Speeder Tornadoes (Assault Cannons / Heavy Bolters) are not to be snuffed at either. Nothing says "You lose" like rolling 6's to rend. Ah, good times.

I might just take out the Vet Assault squads and Tornadoes and put in 3 normal Assault squads and 2 Baal Predators, points-permitting of course.

Good advice, and nice to hear from someone who knows what they're talking about.

If you have two chaplains than they both form into one deathcompany.
Also, you may want to consider taking the power weapons off of your sergeants if you are planning to put them in the DC because they get free ones there.

You should definently consider dropping one of your vet assault squads. I am a little bit worried about your anti tank abilities. If you drop one vet assault squad for assault marines make sure to give them melta bombs.

Other than that its lookin pretty good. (Yay overly large death companies:w00t: )
I have seen the Death Company: wild-eyed berserkers, who tear their enemys limb from limb, crush skulls with a single blow, snap spines and rip out organs. The Blood Angels are indeed ancient and terrible and only the foolish do not fear them.

Wow. I actually have been playing them wrong then. It's on the first page of the FAQ, I know, I just checked. Thanks for pointing that out!

And as I stated above, I might take 3 regular assault squads and take 2 Baal preds if I can fit it in points, so if I can fit them in I will take melta bombs on my squads (and I think I'm going to give them plasma pistols too).

I dunno. What do you all think is better? Melta Bombs on each and every assault squad or 3 pp's in each? I don't have to rapid fire the pp's to use them (Pistols rule) so I can move 12" to get into a 7-12" range of a vehicle (safely keeping my distance in case of any "vehicle explodes" results) and pop it without even assaulting it. However, with melta bombs I am basically guaranteed to destroy any vehicle I touch (S8+2d6).

    Anybody?

PS: I don't have any snipers in the army... I forgot... I don't know why it came up earlier but either way I still agree with the discussion on them.

Man. I don't even play marines, but that looks like a nasty list.
