Allright guys, as the title says, I normally don't play guard much, so I'm building this army only having faced guards. I normally face marines, tau, nids, orks, necs, eldar, and occasionally treadheads. So, without further adu, may I present the 501st Auslese Schwere Abteilung
-Vet. Sb-Company Standard
-3 Lascannons (may consider changing out for missles and spending the pts elsewhere)
-Plasma x3 (may consider changing out for melta's)
-Plasma x3 (same)
-Heavy Bolter (considering lascannon instead)
-Heavy Bolter spontoons
-Heavy Bolter (same)
-Heavy Bolter spontoons
I've focused this army on the ability to deal with any threat when it pops up ie. Tau player sitting back and popping my tanks, send in the vets. Nid player trying to swarm me, pump him full of lead. Need to take an objective, drop the vets in and move forward with the chimeras, ect

Generally a very good list.
A couple of things.
1> I would for sure take Iron Discipline and drop COD and probably drop the Master Vox to save some points. Also a JO will probably do.
2> The only thing your army is lacking is Lascannons. Definatly keep the three you have and probably convert the Heavy Bolters to three more. With all the AV13 and AV14, as well as Monstrous Creatures and Terminators, you can't have too many Lascannons.
3> Drop the Track Guards, they aren't worth the points IMO.
4> Take some of the saved points from above and add a couple of Lascannons to one or two of those Vet squads and Infiltrate them for on the ground fire support. They will do you more good than a hit or miss squad that deep strikes in. I do like one DSing squad with Meltas for Landraiders though.
5> Take the Lascannon out of the Command Squad and give them a Mortar to keep out of LOS. Give the JO Iron Discipline as well.

You know I like this list quite a bit. I would drop the Track Guards on the LRs, odds are you won't be advancing much or the TGs wouldn't come into play that often, but that's a personal choice.
Use the points by making your Lascannon guys Sharpshooters.
I would keep the HSO and Vox Network if you think you'll be too far spread out to make use of your Officers' Ld. Also I'm not too sure on the Heavy Stubber on the Chims. If you can find points here and there consider giving your infiltrating Veterans (if they are infiltrating) some heavy weaponry. Even a single HB with BS4 can be terrifying given a few turns of shooting.
Also if you're not too married to Missile Launchers you could try out some ACs. With BS3 that's one hit on average though you do lose the ability to frag (with Krak) MEQs.
