Here is an army list.
-lightning claw pair
Tactical squad, two of the same one-161 each
-one with heavy bolter
-one with plasma gun
-sergeant with bolter
Assault squad (commander joins squad)-305
-heavy bolter sponsons
is the auto cannon in a tactical squad usefull at all? also, well, how does the rest look? the tacts give fire support to the preds and dread as they kill tanks, infantry, and other things, the whirlwind blows stuff up towards the rear of the army, and the assault squad makes sure nothing comes close to the tacts.
thanks for the help!
tactical squads dont have access to an autocannon,only a heavy bolter,missile laucher,plasma gun,melta gun,plasma cannon,flamer,and(I think)multi melta.
Only a pred(Forgot which one really, the one without the TLL turret)destructer has acess to a autocannon.List looks fine as far as I can tell.
okay thanks for clearing that up for me. so does everyone think this will work well with a variety of armies (ork to chaos)?
I'm a little confused by the pricing of your army. Unless I'm mistaken, you're actually spending 1188 points, not 988. In fact, a few of your units are off as well.
A Captain with a Pair of Lightning Claws, Jump Pack, T. Honors, and Frags comes to 126, not 111.
A 10 man Assault Squad with a Vet Sgt w/ PF comes to 250 points, not 305.
The Whirlwind is actually 85 points, not 75.
Are you using the 3rd edition Space Marine codex? The one with a helmet-less marine w/ Power Fist held in the air as another helmet-less marine waves the Crimson Fist banner behind him? Actually, that seems to be what you are doing. Under the old codex your Whirlwind, Assault Squad and Commander pricing starts to make sense. You need to buy the new codex.

lol. ya i am. i got it at half priced books for like $2.50. in the next week or two i am going to get the new one. thanks lol. so ya, other then that does it look good. (is it still a 1k army?) thanks for the feed back
well I wouldn't know as its a later codex then what I have,it looks good as far as I can tell still. But your going to have to rework everything with the new codex which you should be useing.
wow, thanks for the effort in that (not being sarcastic) i went out and got the new codex. i also got the little battle for macragge paint set and some primer. i will get rid of the whirlwind. so, ya, are their any other suggestions? i think i might be needing a little more fire power in the close combat catagory. so thanks again. any more feed back is helpfull.
Hehehe, dropping the whirlwind still leaves you at 1083 : )
Personally, you've got a decent amount of anti-infantry firepower sitting in your list. Your assault elements are a little weak, but for 1000 points aren't very bad. You can always have the Captain seperate from his assault squad, allowing you to tie up 2 units in assault if necessary. What I think might be a little lacking is your anti-tank. You've ony got 1 unit dedicated to anti-tank, the Predator Annihilator, and to be honest, I've never been a big fan of using tanks to hunt other tanks. If your list is anything to go from, your opponents could field 3 vehicles in 1000 points. You'll be lucky if your Annihilator can eliminate them all in 1 game, especially considering: 1)His anti-tank firepower will be focused on the Pred to protect his vehicles and 2)The Pred, while nice, is still just a vehicle. One lucky shot and it's gone, along with only decent way of taking out his vehicles. Yes, the Pred Destructor can be used to destroy vehicles as well, but it's only really reliable for AV 10-11 and is definitely better used for its primary anti-infantry role. I'm not sure what you should drop to make your points limit, but I would consider some additional anti-tank firepower somewhere.
