Hi I have just bought my codex and Im raring to go! I have had thought about what I maybe want in my army but I am not sure what maybe effective or not, so I hoped maybe some of the more experienced players could tell me where I am maybe going wrong, Thanks
Cloak of St Aspira
Mantle of Ophelia
Jump pack (you'll see why )
Troops- Sister Supeiror and 9 Battle Sisters
Sister Supeiror and 9 Battle Sisters
Fast Attack - 9 Seraphims w/ veteran Superior - 208
2 twinlinked inferno pistols-30
VS- Power weapon and Bolt pistol -11
Heavy support - 3 Excorcists - 405
Total - 1004
I want my enemy to worry bout quite a few things in this army such as the seraphims with their inferno pistols and the canoness being attached to them, i would use divine guidance on them or the sisters of battles which could make it rather fun, and other acts of faith too. 3 excorcist is a tough cookie for them to handle and i did not want just 1 because if i roll a 1 with it, that would suck quite a bit, but with this, atleast i will have 3 AP1 shots every round If there is anything wrong with this list, could someone please tell me before I buy the things, thanks
I would drop one of the Exorcists for some more sisters, your going to want some more regular troops. Because likely your tanks will be targeted first. And I would drop everything off the Canoness except for her Blessed weapon and jump-pack. Perhaps put some flamers or meltaguns into your troop squads for some antitroop/antitank.
Legion Of Everblight: Abyslonia
Protectorate of Menoth: Grand Exemplar Kreoss
i would agree with Pathofskulls and drop 1, even 2 of the exorcists and get some more sisters and some rhinos and special weapons for them.
3 Exorcists in 1,000 pts! It might be effective most of the time, but you will perish horribly against tau or eldar =).
Just some tactical stuff:
Take Veterans in the regular sister squads. The squads do not generate a faith point and cannot use acts of faith unless you upgrade their sister superior to a veteran. As you've listed it you only have 3 faith in a 1,000 pt list!
Joining the canoness to the Seraphim is a nono. You break the seraphims' ability to hit and run and you break the canoness's ability to use acts of faith based on leadership.
If nothing else I'd recommend taking 7 seraphim instead of 9 and using the pts to put special weapons on the regular sisters.
Also, if you play with friends who don't care, it's cool, but 4 pts is a lot to be over by. A lot of people will look past 1 or even 2, but I think you give the wrong impression if you show up to play at a store or event with that big an overrage.
I have to aggree with most of the comments above,
I think 130 - 150 points is a good allocation towards your HQ in a 1000pt game.
Unless you take an Inquistor with some gun servs to give you some long range heavy bolters support without taking up a heavy support slot.
otherwise i would normally only field x1 Exorcist and a Retributors Squad for my Long range support, usually your Exo will take all the heat to leave your Rets to do some serious damage.
Upgrading to the Vet is pretty much a must if you plan on getting / using faith points during a game and probably best to try and get your troops up around 12 - 14 models if you can so you have got some depth. especially uselful for making faith rolls or morale checks etc, even after losing a few models. and defintaly upgrade the special weapons.
I usually use Melta guns myself, the high str AP1 shots make pretty short work of high toughness models and Vehicles, even the Necrons Monolith never seems to last long against them!!
Anyway, hope we all been some help.
