I am new to Space Marines and am putting together an army based on the Storm Lords chapter.
I am looking to create a force that strikes like lightning (like their chapter badge).
Chaplain, Terminator Honours, Terminator Armour, Bolt Pistol
Terminator Command Squad (5 Terminators) , 2 armed with assault cannons power fists converted to chain fists.
Terminator assault squad (5 Terminators), all with a pair of lightning claws
Dreadnought, assault cannon and heavy flamer
Troops (2 identical squads)
6 man tactical squad, 1 armed with heavy bolter, 1 armed with plasma gun, sergeant has terminator honours, power fist and bolt pistol
All squads to go in drop pods. All squads have furious charge.
advantage : No Mercy No Respite, drawback : Have Pride In Your Colours
The aim is that the Chaplain drops near the Assault Terminators and joins that squad. This should make one rock hard assault squad. The Command squad (do I need a character attached to it or can it operate on its own?) drops near heavy armour to take it out with chain fists. The dreadnought and the tactical squads provide covering fire.
I do not want any unit in a vehicle or deep striking land speeders. All should be carried in drop pods (the only exception being assault marines with jet packs).
I would welcome all comments on what I have assembled so far and what to add next.
Well, if your playing competitively, your going to have a difficult time with this army.
Secondly, the chaplain may not drop pod unless he has a terminator command squad, which would not allow him to leave the unit. Youd have to rely on luck and have him and one of the tactical squads be ready at the same time.
If you fail to get this, then he will be forced to deep strike normally.

I'm certainly no expert here so if I'm missing something just let me know.
Overall I think one thing you're missing is some ranged anti-tank. You seem to be relying too heavily on CC anti tank, and if these units don't have the chance to get close enough or they get tied up you'll have serious trouble with heavy armour. That aside I just feel like you have too few models, but obviously that's the point so whatever works for you I guess.
Hope that helps on a more specific level - definitely take a look at the drop pod tactica, it's pretty sweet.
Back from the dead to haunt new houses.
Send me a hello if you remember me.
Thanks guys for knocking some sense into me. Having read other posts there were way too many Terminators. What about the following for a 1500 point list, still with an assault flavour.
Reculsiarch, Terminator Armour, Storm Bolter
5 Terminator Squad, 2 x Assault Cannons, 4 x Chainfists OR
5 Assault Terminators, all with Lightning Claws
6 Assault Marines, Veteran Sergeant (Terminator Honours, Powerfist, Bolt Pistol)
3 Identical Squads of 5 Space Marines - Veteran Sergeant (Terminator Honours, Powerfist, Bolt Pistol), 1 Marine with a Heavy Bolter, 1 Marine with a Plasma Gun
2 Predator Annihilators, Extra Armour
5 Drop Pods (1 for each Tactical Squad, Terminator Squad, HQ)
All units have furious charge due to 'No Mercy No Respite' advantage.
This comes in at 1496 points with the Terminator Squad or 1436 with the Assault Terminators
My thinking now is that the Predators operate as long range anti-tank whilst the Whirlwind operates as long range anti-troop. All the other units drop into assault range.
