Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok, after re-vamping my marines, I find it a struggle to get close to 1,000 without going over. Any help is much appreciated. This is intended to be a balanced, take-all-comers sort of army, a bit CC-heavy for now but expecting to add more heavy weapons (dev squads) later on.
It's a trait chapter, with Cleanse and Purify, See But Don't Be Seen and Eye to Eye.
Reclusiarch with bolt pistol, frag grenades, jump pack, term. honours -- 117
10-man tactical squad with powerfisted sergeant, plasma guns x 2, infiltrate -- 230
6-man tactical squad with lascannon, plasma gun, infiltrate -- 143
10-man assault squad with powerfisted sergeant, plasma pistol x 2 -- 260
Land Speeder Tornado x1 -- 80
Venerable Dreadnought, drop pod -- 155
TOTAL POINTS: 985
C & C welcome

Here are my thoughts and comments.
As a whole, I see some major problems with your list. You need to seriously rethink this. You have 1 6 man las squad, an LST and an assault squad starting on the table. The rest is going to DP in later. That is a REALLY bad idea. With nothing else to shoot at, your assault squad will not last long… I can almost guarantee that they never make it into combat. Especially if your DP rolls are poor. By the time your pods land, they will find that there is nothing around to support them, and they too will quickly fall. You honestly have about the worst possible ratio of units on field to unit's DPing. Usually you want 100% in Drop Pods, or less then 25%. Anything in between and you're just feeding your opponent nice, tasty bite sized pieces.
I hope that helps.
Flesh Over Steel cannot be used with drop pods successfully - every transport choice - including drop pods counts as a fast attack slot. Thus currently you would have 4 FA choices. Instead use Eye to Eye, or Aspire to glory, both of which require no changes to your list to be legal. I find Aspire to Glory to be more fluffy for Custom chapters - as obviously few players have heard your chapters name, or the feets of its heroism. It's a trait chapter, with Cleanse and Purify, See But Don't Be Seen, Flesh Over Steel and Faithful Unto Death.
I strongly recommend you not mix infiltrators and drop pods. The problem: Your infiltrators deploy up front, half your army is off the board, thus the enemy army slaughters the infiltrated squad.
So, consider picking a more useful secondary trait. For your current list, it seems never despair might be fluffy choice. Unless you play nothing but standard missions you might find Faithful until death too restrictive. Also it almost never has a game effect in 1000 points. If you find this annoying, consider switching to Have Pride in your colors.
Sinjin has said most of what their is to say i second most of what he says. However, hes missed a few things.
First, your army total is over 1225 points, not 990.I suggest you drop this squad to 8 marines, this will save on points, and allow for more drop poding squads.10-man tactical squad with powerfisted sergeant, meltaguns x 2, drop pod -- 235I would go with a 3rd, 8 marine drop podding squad, with powerfisted sergeant, and 2 plasma guns.6-man tactical squad with lascannon, plasma gun, infiltrate, auspex -- 135
This will make your drop podding threat fair more deadly. Drop podding 4 squads will mean an average to two squads arriving, instead of one OR two. One squad arriving will almost always get slaughtered. 4 drop podding squads means 2 should show up, then they can support each other and make one heck of a good first strike.Sweet selections - your a little low on total point costs for a mixed force however. Drop the tornado. Secondly, and remove 1 plasma pistol - unless your allowed to play with a slush value of greater then 3 points, since with the plasma pistol the army will be: 1003 points. Without the pistol its 998 points. (this also includes the cost of terminator honors on the HQ.)10-man assault squad with powerfisted sergeant, plasma pistol x 2 -- 260
Land Speeder Tornado x1 -- 80This fella is way to many points for a 1000 points army. I suggest the following Changes: Removing venerable and furious assault. Remove smoke launchers.Venerable Dreadnought with extra armour, smoke launchers, furious assault, drop pod -- 173
Now the army comes to either 998 or 1003.
I strongly advise you either go all drop pods - or increase the total points allowed to 1500, preferably 1850. And unless you remove flesh over steel, the army is currently not legal.

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but I thought editing the list a bit was better than starting over.
Ok, the main change is the virtual elimination of drop pods. Not that I couldn't come back to them at a higher point size, but for now, if I want good placement/mobility, I'll use the infiltrate skill. I've also gone plasma, as there won't be a lotta vehicles in a 1,000-point game.
The only drop pod is for the dread, and that's just cuz I see no point in footslogging a CC dread, and I see no point in having a tank-hunting dread in a 1,000-point game. Also, I have a dread model, so I'd like to make it fit.
Lastly, the speeder. Again, I have a model for one, and would like it to have a place.
C&C welcome, once again.
