Hello all, I finally made good on getting the BFM and the new SM codex! In celebration i made up my first list tonight. I dont have all of the models as of yet but i will soon. But i wanted to ask you fine people for your opinions on my list and stratagey. So here it goes
Repentors: 500 PT Rapid Response Team.
A: Suffer not the alien to live + Purity above all
D: Aspire to Glory
Troops: Tactical Marine Squad:
Apothecary Sargent thinggy
Tactical Marine Squad:
Apothecary Sargent again
My strategy is to use the 2 tac squads to halt the advance of the infantry of the enemy, hopefully making them turn and run. If and when they do, I drop the Dread behind them to hold them in place.
well thats what i have thought up as a starting point on the long road to a 2000 point battle force. Please forgive me if i have infringed on holy writ of GW. It is simply misunderstanding any of the rules of the game. Some parts confuse me a bit.
But thank you to all who have something to say to help me on my way.
Well for 500 points a dreadnaught. Yeah I understand your new and all but that isn't the way to go. And a chaplain with a boltpistol I don't think is allowed and if it is it won't be worth the point you might as well talk a stormbolter for it. Even though it is more points it will be way more effective.
You can't have an apothecary as a sergant of your squad. Only veteran sergan or a sergant. Apothecary comes in command squad. I suggest read the codex before all. Just get used to the stuff.
And welcome to Warhammer 40k.
oh my mistake on the Vet sergeant, i saw tac squad and got happy but then why does it say in the "purity above all" trait that i CAN have an apothecary take the place of a vet sergeant?

Seeing as its your first time, I'll just let you off with a warning, but Armys lists have their own forum HERE
- Just report the post. - Firedrake28
Also, and I say this only because this had me confused when I first started out, but you may want to re-read the Deep Striking Rules again, as you can't choose when those units some down, so they could come on the second turn or the 6th, or even not at all, so I would drop the Drop pod for your Dread and instead give it teh Lascannon, Missile Launcher and Extra Armor, this protects you from any armor and lets you hit teh enemy from afar, which your current list is lacking.
I would alo Change teh HQ for 500 point matches, as spending 110-125 points on just your HQ, which is about a quarter of the army can lead to not having enough troops. So I do something like this;
Hes nice and cheap will still brining some CC power to your lines if they get assaulted.
With teh points saved you can buff your squad numbers more, making them more formidable.
Now, thats just what I think, you can take my adivce and use it, or not, thats okay as you have teh right to do your army the way you want it.
But most importantly, Have FUN.
So do you plan to use your suffer not the alien to live? which race? eldar is probably the best for it as most of them will have higher WS than you so it really comes into effect. It helps you against orks too but odds are they will chew you up in cc anyway, and they are a lot rarer than eldar and dark eldar. You will almost always be hitting tyranids on a 3+ anyway.
Purity above all does indeed let you turn your vet serges into apothecaries.
Either go dreadnought /w lascannon and missile launcher OR close combat weapon and assault cannon.
You don't have a squad for your chaplain to benefit. Librarian with fury of the ancients or fear of the darkness would be good here I think. Although that captain from MikeTehFox is nice and cheap and lets you use more tactical marines.
Expanding from 500 points I'd say either buy some devastators or fast attack (your choice).
Check out my Codex: Farmyard Animals here!
If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
Be sure to post your army lists in the Space Marine Army List section. You can find it just above the main Space Marine page.
why shouldnt i take a dreadnought for a 500 pt game. wouldn't he be rather good, ill grant you high profile but he could do some damage. Right?
