I was having a play in army builder to sort an army out for something different to paint. I already have numerous guard armies so decided to go for something slightly different.
This list is supposed to be CC orientated, (so I have something different to play, other than guard!). The whole idea is to infiltrate forward, use the snipers to pin something or shoot big creatures (I know they arent the best weapons but I like them), the three squads each pounce on an enemy unit and have at them. The landspeeder is to pop the odd tank or transport.
The only thing im worried about is the veteran squad. Im a bit unhappy about the amount of points caught up in 5 models. I like their layout though and aimed to get in as many lightning claws as possible.
Captain w/ twin lightning claws, frags
1x sarge w/ bp, ccw, frags
2x marines w/ bp/ccw
2x marines w/ flamers
5 man Vet squad
2x twin lightning claws, 1x power sword and bp, 2x bp and ccw
All w/ frags, infiltrate, termie honours
Scout squad: 170pts
1 x sarge w/ terminator honours, 2x lightning claws, frags
8 x scouts w/ bolt pistol, ccw, frags
Scout squad: 90pts
1x sarge w/ sniper rifle
5x scouts w/sniper rifle
1x landspeeder w/ multimelta
Total 750 pts.
So any good?

A pretty good list , since LS only work good in 2s or 3s i would drop it , drop the vets , upgrade your command squad to 10 man , have a company champion , vet with lightning claws , plasma guns and melta bombs .
1) Why do landspeeders only work well in 2-3's? I'm used to sentinels and well you just get 1 and pop it out to get that one annoying tank and let it die. What makes the landspeeder different? (apart from faster harder hitting etc)
2) Why amalgamate the vet squad and the command. I've just had a play around and it doesnt seem to work too well. Plasma stops them being assaulty and melta bombs are for tank hunting. I dont see how a squad set up for CC should be going after tanks! Also it means I would be using only 3 squads rather than presenting 5 targets, If I came up against one of my guard amries i'd be dead V quick without lots of small units One of those squads would also be over half the points for my army!. (I fear the pie plate you see)
Now i'm only new to marines so i'm gonna need really simple explanations!
