    1850 'Last Chancer' Army

    I love the idea of packing an army with sniper weapons and this was the easiest way of doing it. I run into the question as to weather or not it is legal though, any input is welcome. Have at and thanks guys.

    The list totals out at 1836 points.

    Mastercrafting?

    Interesting,

    I've been experimenting with Last Chancer based armies lately, but hadn't thought of this one. I think 300 points to Mastercraft Sniper rifles is a waste. You've already got 30 of them, all with BS4! It's also debateable wether you can go without a command squad or not.

    How about this:

    Drop the Mastercrafting and the Rough Terrain mods on the tanks. All the cover on the board is likely to be filled with Infiltrating Snipers anyway. Drop the Techpriest as well, he's not worth it. I don't really like the AF squad in this list either.

    That would allow you to add a Cmd. Platoon with Junior Officer, 2 Rocket Launcher Squads, and 2 Mortar Squads (+ a Mortar in the Cmd. Squad). Upgrade the Pintle Storm Bolters to Heavy Stubbers and add a Hellhound with Smoke, Armour and Stubber. I'd probably swap the Sniper Rifles on 3 of the Specialists for Meltaguns. That gives you a nice 5 man CC squad which can DS in to kill a hidden Basilisk, Defiler or other Armoured threat.

    Anyway, it's probably not something I'd do, but it might be fun

    Revised List

    The GW FAQ (at least the one on the us website) says that a 'Last Chancers' army doesn't have to have a command platoon. I had questioned the usefullness of mastercrafting as well and did some looking and decided there were much more amusing ways to spend the points. Looking at my list I noticed a distinct lack of CC ability and decided to add it in the most looney way possible. I hope if you don't like the list you at least get a chuckle.

    For a shits a giggles list, I think its great. I can easily picture the Coronel leading a team like this to ultimate death{goofy}. But honestly don't expect to win with this list. At 1850 you are greatly lacking in warm bodies and in shooting. I know you have some armor that will help out, but I can see a heavy assault oriented (khorne, Tyranids) or a Necron army just whooping your butt. With such a small amount of guys you can target only so many units. Even if you concentrate all your shots its just still not enough shots. Imperial guard is and always will be shooty, no matter how to put it. Post up the cost of each squad so we can get a look at how much everything costs.
    In the rule book, on page 5, it says:
    "The most important rule about playing games of Warhammer 40K is to have fun!"

    Goingo to have to drop the Armored Fist squad and fill in the points with something else, just dawned on me that I have to have another regular platoon to take the armored fist. back to the drawing board.
