1500 point list, scrutiny please :)

Traits: Cleanse and purify, and possibly tank hunters if required.

    95 pts

    FAST ATTACK

    Assault Squad
    8 Space Marines
    2 Plasma Pistols
    Veteran Sergeant

    150 pts

    Devastator Squad
    5 marines
    4 Rocket Launchers
    155 pts

    1493 pts total

I am considering the above list the final lot for my space marines, before moving on to something else. All I would need to buy is another predator.

But, I thought I would look for some advice before making the decision.

The 1000 points list it's derived from plays pretty well. But does anyone have any advice for me, before I embark upon buying the final piece?

First off, wrong forum. This needs to go in the ARMY LIST section. Otherwise, meh it's an alright list.

EDIT- more marines in the Dev sqaud, or it will fall FAST and hard.

The list looked good save for two things.

    1. The chaplain needs terminator honors, that plus 1 attack is really good.

    2. Don't take sponson lascannons on the predator. You won't be facing that many tanks, and you will have to remain stationary in order to fire them all. The HB's let you move and shoot as well as engage a greater variety of enemies for way cheaper. If you add HB's instead of Lascannons, you should be able to add termie honors to the chaplain. Also, with drop pods and their need to scatter, and your need to start behind cover because you will be outnumbered in the beginning due to drop pods coming in later, you really need to be able to move from behind cover to get that first shot off or to support your scattering drop pod squads.

    3. Plasma pistol in the assault squad. This is more of a preference thing. I recently stopped playing an extremely plasma heavy army because they overheat so much. It is the law that if it overheats, the guy will fail his armor save. I think the points could be better spend on more men for the devastator squad. They do need more men, because losing one space marine is better than losing one space marine plus rocket launchers.

    4. This is also a preference thing, and depends on the type of opponent you wil be playing. If you feel points are tight, try taking a flamer instead of a meltagun on one of both of those squads.
Really, they are actually quite good, and causing that many wounds on your opponent right before they get to strike back is really handy, especially vs. units parked in cover or high I armies like Eldar.

But it is a nice list.

I know the chaplain needs terminator honors, but I can't seem to fit it in. and the reason I have all lascannons, is I seem to be extremely unlucky when hitting vehicles, and it gives a little extra bite it it comes down to it and I need to turn them towards terminators (or equivalent impervious things).

I might see how it plays, and then decide on the HB sposons, I'm not sure.

I also know the devastator squad needs more members, but I can't seem to fit them in. =/

    Thanks for your input.

Instead of adding the predator, you should beef up your squads. The tac, dev, and assault squads could all be improved with more marines. You'd also have points for termi honors that your chapie really wants, and drop pods for the dreads. They're configured for short range, and they can support the podding tac squads. The tac squads will probably see cc, so powerfists would be nice there as well.

    Thanksies.

The Zoat, I was considering that, and I may well go in that direction. I shall write out the list and see how the points fair with said changes... after I get my codex from my friend, I left it at his house yesterday after we had a game

Then I'll have to finish painting all of this...

    :DIT::

Ok, changes made, I have scrapped the extra predator, and added extra models to the dev squad. I've decided to go with rhinos for the tac squads, even if it's an expense, They move fast, and it saves me having to rely upon drop pods.

The Chaplain has terminator honors now also, and the tac squads have their much needed power fists.

    Code:

    Chaplain
    Master Of Sanctity
    Terminator Honors
    Bolt pistol
