If you really wanted, Canew, you could have your infantry platoon maounter in tanks as well. It would be pricey though, in money and in points.

I understand not everyone feels the need for the Astro, I'm merely explaining reasons for taking it.

That's stupid, you're stupid. I'm always reasonable, unless you're stupid. Like you.

Ok, so here's another go. I've almost got it, and again thanks much for everyone's interest and help!

A few notes:

--I'm keeping the searchlights on the sents because I'm not sure if I want to outflank with them yet, and if I get in the habit of using them on turn 1, they could be valuable in Dawn of War deployment.

--Again, I know Vendettas are well-liked, but I can't afford to buy them right now, and they'd be the hardest to scratch-build, so they're pretty much out.

--I don't want to mechanize the infantry platoon. While this would be fluffy, much of the IP, expecially in this new list, will rely on heavy weapons, and that means they can't move around much. In the previous codex, mechanized footsoldiers didn't work as well as mechanized stormtroopers or vets, and I'm inclined to think the same thing's true now.

Here goes:

HQ:

CCS, 4x meltaguns - 90
Chimera: Multilaser, heavy flamer - 55

TOTAL HQ: 145

ELITES:

Marbo - 65

TOTAL ELITES: 65

TROOPS:

Infantry Platoon:

Command Squad, autocannon, 2x grenade launchers - 50
Infantry squad, autocannon, grenade launcher - 65
Infantry squad, autocannon, grenade launcher - 65
Infantry squad, lascannon - 70
Infantry squad, lascannon - 70

Veteran Squad, 3xmeltaguns - 100
Chimera: Multilaser, heavy flamer - 55

Veteran Squad, 3xmeltaguns - 100
Chimera: Multilaser, heavy flamer - 55

Veteran Squad, 3xmeltaguns - 100
Chimera: Multilaser, heavy flamer - 55

TOTAL TROOPS: 785

FAST ATTACK:

Scout Sentinel Squad x3, all with autocannon, searchlight - 123

Hellhound, hull heavy flamer - 130

Bane Wolf, hull heavy flamer - 130

TOTAL FAST ATTACK: 383

HEAVY SUPPORT:

Leman Russ Demolisher - 165

Leman Russ Demolisher - 165

Hydrax2 - 150

TOTAL HEAVY SUPPORT: 480

ARMY TOTAL: 1,858 points

My only problem now is how to get rid of 8 points. I'm also nervous about the idea of fielding tanks with pretty much NO protection at all. I know the IG are about quantity rather than quality, but I've always been uneasy at the cavalier idea of just sacrificing models for no reason. Feel free to tell me I'm nuts and to get over it.

Also, you can see I've added some lascannons to the infantry platoon. My only trouble with that is, unless my CCS hangs back with them, I can't twin-link them. Is this a liability?

Oh yes, of course Imperial Guard tanks don't have any protection. Just some of the thickest armour in the game

On the subject of your lascannons, I wouldn't use them in the infantry platoon. With BS, on average you'll only make 3 hits per game with each one, and even then theres no garruntee of damage. What you could use instead could be some mortar squads. For their points, these guys are very good indeed, and can be very annoying for your opponent. Of course, it would be better to use autocannons, but I reckon you might like something different, which is why I'm suggesting mortar squads.

Other than that, it looks pretty good.
