I am going with Blacknight on this one I like the Grenade and Missile Launcher set up. it's nice that I can sort of change what I am shooting if I need to by using Krak or Frag. Plus I really liked the look of the Steel Legion so I got the Grenades and Missiles guys in the box.

For most games I do all Plasma/Heavy Bolter, but in small games i've been trying a platoon with Las/Plas and one with Plas/H-Bolter, and its been working out alright.

I like when things go boom so I have always had the grenade launcher/ missile launcher combo with my army. I never really choose plasma guns though just because of the get hot rule can be sort of a pain when you really need the shot to count but instead if you roll bad you can lose your own guy. Thats a spork in the eye for me when that happens. And I also choose the grenade and missile laucher because I play with carapace armour which limits my points which now in my army list lets me have two infantry platoons each with three squads not including the officer squad so with these weapons I still have a good chance against a larger army.

I would vote but there isn't a flamer and mortar combo in the list.

joking.....

I prefer the plasma/missile combo, it fills out two roles with the frag/krak missile.

So far only one guy likes the flamer. Im surprised by this because there is actually a guy who uses flamers and is not afraid to say it.

I think flamers are great, just not in line squads.

To me a line squad sits in cover, and blasts away witht he Heavy Weapon and the Special Weapon until he get an enemy close enough where it is beneficial to charge, or be charged.

Flamers just don't have the range. Most fast assault troops likes 'Stealers, Assault Marines or some Eldar units will be on you before you ever have one shot, making the flamer useless in a line squad, IMO.

I do like flamers in drop trooping command squads or command squads in Chimeras.

Plasma gun+Heavy Bolter
This adds the punch of a super flashlight and a fully automatic flashlight together and blinds your oppoents troops before they massacre your line squad

Well, when I actually USE heavy weapons in my line squads I like Grenade Launcher + Autocannon. The AC has a nice amount of strength and 2 shots. The grenade launcher has versitility and cheapness.

For the most part I keep heavy weapons in the support squads.

I have defenses for my possibly heretical actions though, they are called grav-'chutes.

I've been running Grenade Launchers and Missile Launchers as they both have a dual shot type. IMO this allows for greater overall flexability.

Agreed. After a recent tournament flamers on chimeras seem to outperform bolters under some circumstances.
