The Battle for Aurora Prime is under way! Imperial (Imperial Guard and Inquisition) players, check out the information thread here and get ready to participate in LO's first large scale Warhammer 40k campaign!

Faction Commanders

Each faction may nominate a forum member of that faction to be the faction commander during the Battle for Aurora Prime campaign. The faction commander will have access to special orders and privy to certain information that could grant additional bonuses to their faction for the campaign.

If you are interested in becoming the faction commander for this faction, please PM Lost Nemesis. Be sure to discuss it with your fellow faction players, try to come to a consensus on who you want to lead you!

Faction Fluff

Marcus Droitk sighed when he heard the knock o nhis door. He had hoped for at least a few hours of peace and quiet to finish his work. He still had over twenty Baneblade requisition forms to get through.

Adept Ordinate Erris entered. He bowed low to his superior.

“Yes what is it” said Droitk wearily
“My Lord an urgent request from the Aurora system. It arrived this morning. Highest priority. Reinforcements needed”

“The Aurora system, the Aurora system…” said Droitk struggling to remember. The Zeist system was massive and being Master Adept of the Departmento Munitorum, for an entire sector was no easy task. “Ah yes it is the trading centre of the Gannos sub sector. System Governer Nixios Zantor if I remember correctly. Hmmm very well what does he want and why”

“Major Xenos and Heretical incursion sir” said Erris “They are requesting troops and ah naval support“.

“We are a little tight right now” said Droitk testily “And I do believe Aurora Prime has over a dozen regiments posted there already, not including private security forces. Alright what do they want exactly?”

Erris cleared his throat.

“Emm…an additional twenty Guard regiments, two unspecified super heavy armoured companies, the Mortis Ferrus Titan Legion, the Gannos Majoris and Zeist Tertiary Naval Battle Groups, a full Delta level naval supply line providing logistical support for a campaign of 18 month minimum, possibly indefinite duration and a AlphaVX Clearance level message to be sent to the Ordo Sicarius. These forces are requested for immediate deployment”

Droitk took off his wire spectacles and slowly cleaned them. He put them back on and then looked Erris in the eye.

“Is Zantor mad?” he asked. “I have over a dozen requests from Governors on the front line against the Tau expansion asking for regiments. There are colonies in the Krox sub sector desperately waiting for the Imperial Navy to deliver them from the scourge of Ork raiders. Unknown xenos bio-forms have swept into the Vruxos system and I must find a half dozen regiments to transport into the region. Denmort IX has been under siege for the last two decades and we have still been unable to requisition adequate supplies to fully equip the regiments posted there. Aurora Prime is a reserve world. It has regiments, it has PDF units it has Adeptus Arbites. It can defend itself. Why in the Emperors name should the Departmento Munitorum send a single regiment to Aurora Prime let alone this…this insanity”

Erris quietly put the report on his superiors desk “Because the request doesn’t come from Governor Zantor it comes form Inquisitor Lord Von Striken, Ordo Xenos”

Droitk looked down at the Inquisitorial seal ashen faced
“This might take some time” he said at last “I had better get started on the paper work.”

After the failed attack against the forces of Chaos in Northern Akos the Imperial Guard stationed on Aurora retreated South. A substantial part of this force is now stationed in the Golvidis heights to prevent a Chaos counter attack.

However the bulk of the Imperial Guard are stationed in and around the capital Aurora city. Here the Imperial High Command of the Aurora campaign has been desperately trying to formulate a strategy to regain control over the planet.

Notable figures the Imperial High Command on Aurora Prime include:

Lord Marshall Samson Tyson. Although Tyson is the overall Commander of the Imperial Guard in the Aurora system he is not based in Aurora city as he is presently overseeing the defences in the Golvidis Heights

General Klyde Trenkis, Commander of the Cadian 428th. Trenkis has been entrusted with the task of raising new forces on Aurora Prime and ensuring the defences of Aurora city. In dealing with the High Command in Aurora City he speaks for the Lord Marshall. General Trenkis is an ambitious man. During the frantic days of the retreat from Northern Akos rumour spread that the Lord Marshall had been killed. General Trenkis took no time in assuming the mantle of Commander of the Imperial Guard forces on Aurora Prime. It was with some chagrin that he handed control back to Tyson when it was discovered he was very much alive.

Executive Nixios Zantor, Governor of the Aurora System. As System Govenor Zantor has command over all PDF regiments on Aurora. However he has little battlefield experience and has ‘delegated’ his powers over to General Trenkis.

Lord Nymthorn Drike. Drike is the head of the 2nd Prefecture of the Aurora Combine. This means he controls the East Coast of Akos and is therefore responsible for the supply of water and fuel to the continent. His position of power has granted him a seat on the High Command. In addition he has a large private security force.
In theory he is Zantor’s right hand man but some say he s still bitter about losing out on the position of Executive to Nisxios Zantor during the last round of voting..

Inquisitor Lord Claudius Von Striken. An Inquisitor Lord of the Ordo Xenos Von Striken has a considerable level of influence in the Gannos sub-sector, let alone Aurora Prime. As Castilian of Drake-Spire he also commands a considerable body of men.
There are whisperings that Von Striken is the Power behind the throne in Aurra City..

Other Members

Cardinal Tutaka Mazola. As the highest ranking member of the Ecclesiarchy on Aurora Prime Cardinal Tutaka is granted a place in the Imperial High Command. However the Cardinal is currently fighting a bitter battle for survival amongst the ruins of the Cathedral of the Blessed Flame against the traitorous uprising of the Hythun dynasty. His exact fate at this point remains unknown.

Chapter Master Pedro Kantor of the Crimson Fists. As a leader of a renowned Chapter of the fabled Adeptus Astartes Pedro Kantor has more battlefield experience than most of the Imperial High Command combined. He is assured a place on the Imperial High Command. However he has little time for debating strategy. He has several companies worth of battle brothers from half a dozen chapters fighting by his side. Together they have formulated a plan to sweep Aurora Prime clean of the xenos filth that assails it with or without the support of the Imperial Guard in the Aurora system.

As well as the Imperial Guard forces on Aurora Prime the Aurora System has also a dozen or so PDF regiments scattered between Aurora Prime and Aurora Secondus.

In addition the Aurora Combine have thousands of security personnel working for them. While not as well armed as the Imperial Guard they have experience of fighting recidivists and have the advantage of fighting on their home territory.

Finally the first act of the Imperial High Command has been to contact the Departmenum Munitorium and request reinforcements. The Department has responded favourably but none the less it will be weeks or even months before reinforcements arrive.

I got a PM asking if I'd take the lead on this ... not really sure if that's ideal or not, but apparently no one else had stepped up?

Just let me know ... happy to help out if that's required. After all, with the way the new guard codex is built, no point to any of us losing any games anyway ... might as well use a campaign to point out just how broken GW's made the ground pounders.

Shall we set up a vote thread for it seeing as we have 3 or 4 guys with a hat in the ring? If we leave it til midday today (10 and a half hours time) and have a poll for 24h we'll get a fair result pretty quick. What do people think?

Don't include me in the vote. I'm a good player but probably not as veteran a guard player ... I think I was only asked b/c no one was stepping up.

So, if none of these people want to do it or don't feel they're competent enough or whatever, I'm more than happy to, but otherwise no worries a'tall!
