    Tallarn Themed Army

    Hi Readers and Subscribers,

I have recently acquired a mass collection of metal tallarn and want to now run a Al'Rhaiem inspired Imperial Guard List and having not played with Guard for a good couple of years, what is the recommendations in general...What is working well and what is not?

I am currently contemplating with the Tallarn Outflanking Platoon: Going Melta and Plasma heavy...possibly 3 infantry squads and 2 special weapon squads.

But what else is useful...I am assuming a Astropath is pretty much mandatory for the outflanking.

Basically models i have acquired is 10full heavy weapon squads (range of everything), 10 full infantry squads, mainly plasma/ML (main kit), some snipers and a small number of melta. - Currently no Mech what so ever.

Really looking for advice with the new 6th rules and that I have only really played Chaos Daemons and Chaos Space MArines in 6th.

    Thanks in advance all.

Well...for outflanking, I would actually load up on chimeras with hull heavy flamers and give the squads flamers...except al'rahem's squad, give them melta. Then support that with a Platoon with lots of heavy weapons behind an aeigis defense line. And some pieplate-chuckers, of course!

Ya fairly new to the game so correct me if i'm just off base

If you are going to be attacking in from the sides I'd definatly have a Distraction unit or two that starts behind cover that is too powerfull to ignore. A basic 2 tank Leman Russ Squadron can pop some Large Blast. Maybe even some Hellhounds would be a good way to get in your opponents face and disrupt them from mounting defenses along thier flanks.

Again I could be way off but thats how I'd like to keep them on thier toes

This is a good start. I'd recommend adding a Lord Commissar for his leadership bubble. Depending on how many orders you think that you'll need, you might consider including a CCS with Creed.

I like the idea of adding creed, but it's too expensive. Up to 2k, you really can't afford to take both creed an rahem, and outflanking a platoon is definitely a higher priority... And once you hit 2k, after taking rahem's platoon, two HQ, and three more troops (thinking another platoon with max heavy weapons squads behind an aegis plus two vets), you need to fill six heavy slots before you do anything else...so creed comes into the picture at...3k?

Would it not be cheaper if looking into Creed to just take two command squads...i know he has his certain special order...but if you have two Company Command Squads more wounds to allocate and you can just split your forces, making them chose a particular element of the army to kill first. Would that not be a more suitable tactic if looking into the whole multiple orders thing?

Plus if Creed fails, then you cant issue more (looking more at double 6s)...

4 orders plus Al'Rhaeims extra 2 and the 1 from the stay back platoon...Meaning multiple multiple orders...Obviously be very expensive to fit into 1.5K....But could be fun. I like the idea of an all foot list

The argument for Creed vs a second CCS is that you would be unable to use a Lord Commissar to give all the HWSs in his radius Ld10.

If outflanking is more important, go with Alrahem, If you want to run more of a gunline, go with Creed.
