What ever happened to Karskins?

As the title states. I'm looking at starting an IG army and love the look of Karskin squads but I don't see them in the codex. Am I blind or did they get rid of them?

They're in the rules as generic Stormtroopers. The models are still referred to as Kasrkin, though.

Yep. Rules-wise kasrkin are identical to stormtroopers... But fluff-wise, couldn't be different!

I think it's something to do with a difference in indoctrination... stormies are trained to fight and be dedicated to the Imperium as a whole, whereas with Kasrkins it's Cadia which is in the fore-front of their minds. The attitude to them from the ordinary joes is different too, seeing stormies more as... dunno how to put it really - Glory-hogs perhaps? And Kasrkins with a great deal of respect.

Either way though, they are in the 'dex as regular joe storm-troopers

Nows theres a thought. They can make it a duel box for models using carapace armor. Make Kaskins or Armored Veterens!

Kasrkin are elite guardsmen that are a unique feature of Cadian IG (no fluff for catachans, mordians, anyone else to have anything similar.)

Stormtroopers are naval commandoes specializing in boarding actions. They aren't really even an IG unit!

Kasrkin squads never existed per se. They are the Cadian version of Stormtroopers, so whenever you want a Kasrkin squad you select a squad of storm troopers. ;-)

That isn't how they're described in the Codex. Also, Naval armsmen and the like are usually described as using shotguns, not hellguns.
