Not quit true Sokhar, you don't get the kind of mobility and airsupport that the elysians offer, since every unit can take a Valkerie assault carrier as a transport, you don't get that with the IG codex.
limewire is very usefull but it can be difficult sometimes to get your hands on particular codexes especially forge world ones
Where there's a will there's a weapon
Elysians 101:
OK basics, the doctrines are roughly:
Iron Discipline
Veterans
special weapons
Storm troopers
Drop troops
Things you can do in an IG list you can not in elysians:
Take any vehcles other than those listed in the other sections below
take HS fire support platoons
take multiple special weapons in your HQ squads
take heavy weapons in troop, veteran or HQ squads
Take any heavy weapon squads in you command platoon other than mortars, missile launchers or heavy bolters
Things you can do in Elysians but can only do with codex IG if you take IA1 or none elysian specific IA3 options:
take imperial navy aircraft
take specific ordiancne bararges
take vultures as HS choices
take valkyries as transports (only viable for codex IG subject to taking the mechanised doctrine and using IA1 rules which, dreacheon, will allow every chimera to be replaced with a valkyrie, although why anyone would do this is beyond me)
take tarantuals as HS choices
take drop sentinels as FA chocies
take support sentinels (missile/rocket launchers) as FA choices
take cyclops demo vehicles as FA choices
Things you can only do with IA3 Elysians and are not open to codex IG:
take demo charges in veteran and troop choices
take a terribly fluff and quite usefull piece of wargear which amounts to an underslung grenade launcher
note that elysians also have a cost difference for the troop squads.
That help any? somewhere I have my 1500 point elysian list using IA3, although it has a valkyrie in it which is ditched at the mo
I have usd my elysians as both codex and IA3 and much prefer IA3, it is fluffier and effective without being overpowered, the games tend to go in spells, the first turn being all his, by turn 2-3 you are hurting him, by turn 5-6 you are hanging on for grim death unless you have been excessive lucky with the scatter dice

Everything you have been told is a lie!
Yeah that helps a bunch Cher. I've decided to try and make a light infantry/drop army now inspired by the elyisians (and if I can get the money) modeled on the Elysians. Doctrines are (for now)
Special Weapon Squads
Drop Troops
Light Infantry
Veterans
Cameleoline Armor
I don't know how this type of list will play as of yet so I need to play test it, but it basically is troop heavy with little vehicular support.
Thanks again for the info.
There are some notes I put together, inteded to put it up as an article but never got round to it, it is attached to varrious posts, which may help , but it is principly about pure drop troop armies, mixing with light infantry and cameoline can be a good combination and gives you similar theories - use of special weapons particularly, good luck

Not to get your hopes down or anything but these "Elysians" are very expensive so I would just by their codex thingy and build the troops from other sets.

that is about half of my elysians (well precisely a further 27 remain so less than half)
and the "Codex thingy" cost £55, if you can afford that...

Im in america so to me that is expensiveOriginally Posted by Cheredanine
Its not really all that expensive if its what you want. This is after all meant to be a hobby and Forgeworld is top of the line when it comes to GW models.
Golfers shell out 500 dollars just for a single club not to mention exorbanant greens fees that can top 50 or even 100 US dollars a piece each time they play.
Each to his own. If I had the cash I'd be all over the forge world minis.
