I agree completly with hourglass. Since the codex over rules the standard imperial guard codex in the rule book the Ld is not for troops around him, only those in his squad. That why you can take so many of them. Otherwise people would be taking one for example, putting that squad in the center of a platoon of three squads lets say(hes in the center) and they would all get the Ld. I think that would be kinda dumb, why would he have to care about another squad, he may of been assigned to that squad to watch over a panzyish commander. So the 0-5 limit is just fine. But it only effects the one squad he is directly with. There new rule about the commissar looking over there shoulders or whatever is the Ld bonus on the squad adding +1 to the squads Ld. The only time when the commissars Ld is used is when he blows a cap in the pathetic sergeant of that squad.

As for the Russ's I like the standard just fine. Being able to move and still fire my las-cannon, 3 heavy bolters, and a pintel stormbolter/H. stub gun makes them a bit more mobile. Since I am using the new TVR's that would be why. I dont see why people dont like it as much. I think it is much, much better.

And as for ogryns.........don't care. I don't use them. The only mutant things I would use is ratlings. A hell of alot of fire power towards stupid models like the wraithlord. Its to strong, so what you do......SNIPER RIFLES!! YA!!!!

I don't understand everyone's complaints... The Imperial Guard are much better now than they were in the old Codex. And the TVR makes the Guard even better. So stop complaining. Don't like a unit? Don't use it. Better yet, don't buy one, paint one, and then bitch about how they "suck." Just shut the hell up and play. Overall, if you don't like the Imperial Guard, don't play it. Simple.

And hourglass, back from your first post here... what's wrong with using a command section for assault? I do it every game, the last game I played they killed a unit of about 8 Chaos Terminators with the use of Medipacks, Plasma Pistols, Melta Guns, Laspistols (that's right!) and of course, a Power Fist, which took out four of them in the first set of swings. The last one ran, and I swept him out. And all that from a 120 point squad.

I think the point everyone is getting at is... GW put out these wonderful models such as the commisar, ogryn, and leman russ exterminator. People bought these models, and used them to a great extent in their previous games. Now the very models that these people bought painted and played (and more than likely won due to the presence of these models) with them. Now GW took them away for no apparent reason. but the best thing to do is BITCH. Seriously people, write GW and tell them that you want commisars with their extra attack back, tell them you want your exterminators back. Space marine players bitched because we didnt get any ordinance weaponry, and GW gave them the whirlwind and vindicator. Dark eldar players bitched about how crappy witches were in close combat, and now they are some of the most feared close combat units in the game. My advice, make your voice heard, email GW, they may not listen to one person, but they will listen when there are a thousand of you emailing them telling them what you dont like about the codex. Trust me when GW imagines what they could be doing with the extra income from new imperial guard players buying more exterminators and hellhounds due to the new TVR rules, they might just throw everyone a few bones.

I'm pretty sure that the exterminator is still legal with IA, but I'm probably wrong.

All I have to say is that because certain choices are useless...it makes it hard to have an army thats not one dementional. For example I needed some badass CC guys... I ended up getting a 5 man squad of Grey Knight Termies.

Ummm, I'm gonna need some sort of logical conclusion for this one. I don't know if you've been to college yet, but you'll learn nifty things there like how to counter argue a point that has been made. Just stating something as true without examples, such as the ones I gave in my original post, doesn't prove anything other than you want to argue with me to get your post count up.

btw, my complaints are SPECIFIC complaints as opposed to generalized complaints. I also, think that the new codex is a better codex on the whole. However, I'm not pleased with the incredible amount of nearly useless units that it has.

I thought I was making it perfectly clear at the end of each paragraph that I wrote that I WASN'T using these models. I understand that, with half of the world succumbing to MTV induced Attention Deficit Disorder, it's kinda hard to make it to the end of a whole paragraph, but just give it a try. Now as far as for buying them. I don't remember making a claim that I hated buying these models and painting them, cause I LOVE buying and painting them. They are great models, it's just that their rules and points values suck.

Well we must complain about some of the doctines as well my fellow guardsmen. It models the army to what it is. Face it Jungle Fighters is useless. It hurts you more then the actual codex does and you pay 25 points(it says 15 but the doctine is 10 so do the math) for a heavy flamer( cost as much as a lascannon) Warrior weapons a assault based doctine can not benefit from the transport doctines(drop troops, mechansied) to use the extra attack more useful, not countign the fact that assaulting is a crazy guardsmen's goal. Sharpshooters is a bit underpowered. It shoudl reroll all misses. A miss of a 2 is more lily then a roll of 1

I think complaining about a few units in a codex being useless is kinda not enough proof to call a codex "destroyed." IG win all the time where I live, and even more so since the new codex. Besides, if you can't seem to win you can always take the easy way out and play AC.
