Welcome to Librarium Online!
Where to start? Well I got into GW when I was about twelve, made the fatal mistake of asking my mother to get my Warhammer 40,000 for my birthday. Predictably I ended up with Warhammer Fantasy Battle, Mams just don't get it. Anyway year or so later traded for 40k. Played for a good while, but not GW stores locally, and my pocket money was a fair way shy of GW prices. I fondly remember goin without lunch for three days at secondary school to use my lunch money to buy minatures from an older kid. What an idiot I was. Anyway money ran short and I kinda missed eating, So I gave it up. Ten years later I discover Dawn of War, start reminiscing about tabletop. Then they open a GW store right in Durham city centre, I always walk past the window feeling all warm and fuzzy. Then on St Patricks day 2007, me and my housemate begin on the guinness bright and early at 11am. Several pints and two free hats later I'm wasted, wandering alone back up the high street to my hotel room, somehow I end up in the GW store. Where a very knowledgable fellow listens to me slur passionately about the hobby for at least twenty minutes, I imagine it felt a lot longer to him. I wake up at 4 in the morning with a serious headache and the Chaos marine codex. That was about half a year ago, now I have the new codex, around 1000pts of chaos, mostly unpainted, mainly because I've been decorating my house but I am working on it. Very glad to be back in the hobby. Have been lurking the relicnews forums for quite a while now, then this morning a link to this place popped up. So here I am
that story.. sounds remarkably similar to mine.. almost scarily similar to mine! The too expensive.. the forgetting.. the dawn of war.. "Hammer them till they FALL!" hahaha.
And then the CSM codex.. oh yeah.
Nice to have you onboard matey. This place has REALLY looked after me, and I've made some great friends!
See you on the Chaos boards!

Welcome indeed MunkyFunk.
Your story sounds nothing like mine, but I'm still happy to welcome you.
Your name on the other hand reminds me of Karmoon's Necron army
If you have painting or converting questions, need some inspiration or just want to brag about your latest minis, please come to the dedicated boards and do so.
So, another Chaos player comes to join the ranks? Yes, we can use you, I think. Come this way Neophyte and the Quartermaster will take care of you.
Okay, welcome. That was certainly an interesting story about how you got into the hobby - I have to admit that mine was decidedly less...spectacular but I do remember the sound of my jaw dropping when I realised how expensive it was. Fun stuff, that.
thanks for the replies guys, always good to feel welcome.
Despite the long history with the hobby am still a new painter. Truth be told my mother did a lot of the minis for me back when i was twelve, shameful I know. My new chaos army on the other hand is all assembled and painted by my good self. Not Golden Daemon standard in anyones book, but not bad for a new guy, need to get to grips with this whole inking and highlighting madness to really 'kick it up a notch'.
Anyway I got a couple of minis painted that I'll post up when I get home and have access to my digicam (sunday I suspect). If anyones interested the army is The Pyre.
Closest thing I've done to a conversion was last night actually I'll chuck the details and pics from that up on sunday too so you can all tell me its crap . Essentially its a Tzeentchian Icon Bearer on a bike, pulling a wheelie, on the rock base from the new terminator lord kit, The Icon and head stolen from the new chaos marines box set. Say what you like but I think its cool. Thanks again for the replies folks. See ya round the boards

Argh matey! Welcome aboard! Sure ye be going on about yer grog and wenches, or just grog, but yer talents be welcome here on the good ship LO! Good luck with yer Pyres!
lol, I believe talk like a pirate day was yesterday. But hey any days a good day for scurvy wenches and grog. Chose the pyre mainly because the colour scheme is pure awesome. But secondly because there is practically no official fluff for these guys, so I get free reign to make something up. Currently I own 33 marines ranging from still on the sprue, to complete painted and based. One old metal chaos lord I bought whilst drunk which I really dont like that much. The brand spanking new Termi Lord I invested in and assembled last night, Three bikes and one defiler. For the record for any other new guys a defiler is not a fun project if you've never assembled a vehicle before. Shame I gave him the havoc launcher and reaper autocannon before the new dex came out, but never mind.
So it was, lubber, and yet I missed it, so off we go today! Yargggh!
Yarrgh indeed. Scurvy Bilge Rats off the port bow. A bit bizarre that we both hail from Durham, though yours be the American version.
