Which are cheaper orks or nids. Also which are easier to paint.
you can paint nids one colour, so they would be easier to paint theoretically, and im not sure about cost, but you get alot in both battle forces, i personnaly would get orks (that is if i had the choice of them or nids) because they have lots of guns and vehicles
im not sure about points costs, i think orks are more points, therefore are cheaper to buy (if you compare the cost of a set points value)

Either army could be cheaper depending upon how you structure your force.
Personally I would take Orks because i find the tyrannid models to be a pain in the neck when playing. They've got so many pointy bits that overhang the base edge that they always get tangled up with other models when in close combat.
Painting wise, i think tyrannids would be easier to paint because you can just undercoat them the colour you want them to be, drybrush highlights on, and then finish them off with a light ink wash to pull it all together. They won't win any awards but they'd be okay for tabletop gaming.
Ya i think i'll take nids.
orks are a much ezer list to use. so if this is your first army, id choose orks.

-Support your local game store! Don't buy online or from GW stores.-
For the painting I would say Orks, they are faster to paint, trust me. As for the Tyranids they are longer (and they can be tougher to paint too depnds) but they having many combination you can do... It's up to you
