Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey to anyone that reads this, been lurking around the site for a long while and picking up bits and bobs of information, but tonight I decided that I spend too much time hiding in the shadows and joined up!
Little about me - Been playing 40k for about 5 years, stopped with forums/message boards etc. for a while when most of the ones I was using at the time became stale and ended up having 1 post a day if we were lucky.
So yeah, more background... started off picking up 40k bits off friends but never got anywhere, cursed by a short attention span at that age, then once the Lord of the Rings films came out I started playing and eventually moved onto 40k gaming with my Imperial Guard army, which was doomed from the beginning by not having a codex until after assembling about 40 guardsmen...
Armies I Own:
~ 4000pts Chaos Space Marines (Lots of Khorne and Undivided from 3rd Ed. Codex)
~ 3000pts Necrons
~ 2000pts Imperial Guard
~ 200pts of Orks which I've just started ready for 5th Ed!
~ 2000pts of Fantasy Bretonnians
Countless amounts of Lord of the Rings models which are being painted up for display
As far as gaming goes, I enjoy going to Tournies and events but majorly for the social side. I went to Britcon last year in Manchester University (10 mins down the Motorway!) and came something like 13th out of 18, but it was excellent meeting people I don't usually play against and following a different set of scenarios and special rules!
At the moment, I'm rounding off my Necron force for Britcon and playtesting my list so I don't end up annihalated completely, still need a Destroyer Lord, some Wraiths and a Tomb Spyder or two - just to test out some theories I have, as well as add numbers ready for a big Apocalypse game.
In addition, I've been looking around the net for really quick, easy and cheap terrain to make to enhance the tables at the gaming club I attend, Manchester Area Wargames Society (MAWS), so any help with that will be greatly appreciated
Apologies for the lengthy post, I get carried away with myself somewhat! I'll see you guys around these parts soon. Any greetings, issues or questions are always welcome!
Hey, welcome to LO!
(sorry if that smilie disturbed you in any way)
I am Sir AFG, High Priest of LO Chat by self-appointment. I take care of the initiations (which apparently only hurt a little bit), and I am the resident bugspray manufacturor (sp?), so give me a buzz if you have any questions, or if those Nids give you any trouble.
Feel free to lok around the forums, I think you'll find them highly enjoyable, and if you ever get a little tired of the forums, there is the wierd and wonderful LO Chat you can visit. You'd always be welcome there.
Our LOTR forum's having a bit of resurgence, so that implies huge activity, nothing like these said forums you were on before.
Myself, I've never been to a tourney before, but at some point I will. Maybe not this year, maybe not the next, but I will one day!
I know very little about terrain-making but I do know the following: A) If you want it cheap, don't go GW B ) There is currently a great competition going on in the Scenery forum, which you may find inspirational.
Finally, a question: Are you a T40Ker? Reason is that I remember one named Hobbit88, and his avatar was just like yours.
Heh, yeah that's me. Realised that question may be asked when I recognised your username also! Finally, a question: Are you a T40Ker? Reason is that I remember one named Hobbit88, and his avatar was just like yours.
T40k is still a usual haunt, it's just a tad slow recently... But a couple of other forums, mainly run by friends and stuff were what I referred to mainly.
As for scenery, I've no intention of buying from GW, I'm more the sort who'd rather spend that kind of money on more Minis, heh. I'll be sure to take a look at the scenery competition and when I get round to it, post some pics of the stuff I've done.
