I've lurked around the forums for some time now, but only just started playing 40k again with the release of 5th ed, and thought it might be a good idea to get a few tips while struggling with the new rules.
Now playing forces of the inquisition (sisters in small games, daemonhunters with sister allies in larger games). I'm four games in (which i'll have to post in the battle reports at some point) and always one move away from disaster it seems.
I also play a saurus-heavy lizardman team in bloodbowl, in a conservative 'two dice or I don't block, hide the skinks in the backfield' style.
Previously something of a marine and tyranid player from 2nd edition (lots of models from early space hulk days), and the occasional game of epic with corvus-laden warlord titans.
Hey, welcome to LO!
Enjoy the boards, the great community (one of the best on the internet for several reasons), and feel free to ask any questions. Of assistance would be to read and adhere to the Rules.
BB is a great game. You should try a more risky play style though, it's more fun- promise.
Likewise, the pyromaniacal sisters of battle are a very cool army.
But on the whole, welcome to the end of all rationale, I mean, er, Librarium Online. And, uh, see you on the forums.
Picked the lizards without looking at their card in any detail (hadn't seen the before) - a lot of raw ability and no special rules to remember.
It's working out pretty well - the six sauri and the krox can hold the line alone, while the four skinks are held a little back waiting to push a big play.
They start slow, but build up momentum over a game - the main concern is getting spp onto the saurus players and not the skinks (can be tougher than it sounds).
I know exactly how you feel with that, I used to have a very similar team, after 25 games my saurus were all 16-20 SPPs, whilst I had skinks at 150+, though I did get licky with agility bonuses for 3 of my skinks. Having 3 AG4 skinks running through the opposition like a hot knife through butter is great fun.
Hope it works out well for you, See you around on the boards!
