This is my first post. I joined the forum quite long ago, because i liked the showcase and the painting tips. Today i thought, i introduce myself to the forum:
i live in zurich, switzerland:
"Daylight" is the name of my Tau-Commander. I think it is a good name for a tau.
This is how i got into warhammer: I started reading the white dwarf 6 years ago. I bought it at some train-station because i liked the "lord of the rings" cover. When i read the magazine i enjoyed everything, especially the 40K universe. In the late 80s i owned a CD from the band "bolt thrower", called "realm of chaos". Finally i knew what they were singing about !!
Although i liked to read about it a lot, i never started an army, because i felt too old and i couldn't decide which one...
Then, two years ago, my wife bought me that large Tau-Box (with the three piranhas) for wedding anniversary and i got into the painting and collecting. Meanwhile i have a 1000 points tau army (i paint quite slow), that is still growing. In the moment i am painting some space marines from the macragge-box, so the tau have some enemys.
I never really played a game. Once a year a colleague from work is coming, and he plays those space marines against my tau. Usually we only manage to make 3 turns, then he has to leave. But it is always a lot of fun and gives you a closer releationship to your figures.
I once went to the local gaming club. I was disappointed. One of the two armys was not painted at all and they played on a normal table in a bar and took baskets and dishes as terrain.
The game was really boring, too. For three hours I watched a lot of Tyranids marching towards a gunline of Tau. In the end the Tyranids didnt't reach the Tau, because they were all shot down and the Tyranid-player lost. I never went there again.
If i find some time, i will post some pictures of my army.

Haha, it's a misconception that you're ever too old for this. Trust me I've seen guys with white hair in my GW playing little youngsters, so you're never too old.
Welcome to LO, I'm sure you'll find others around here just as old as you but then again some younger or older as well!
