After a month or more now and deciding which Warhammer 40k army to go with I've finally come a decision.
I'm going to go Warhammer Fantasy.
Now I've started up a fresh round of panicing and pondering about which army to go with. The main attractions that I've seen so far are that fantasy battle seem to consist of larger units of troops and bigger battles. Whether this is true or not, that's the image in my mind right now! Also, there seems to be a few more armies and of those armies there are more that seem "neat!" then I what I took from 40k. All personal thoughts, based on what I've been reading and seeing.
With all that aside, I'm deadlocked between three armies: Warriors of Chaos, Daemons of Chaos, and Skaven. There was a fourth (Beasts of Chaos) and this was the main attraction when I made my flop over to fantasy, but from what I've been reading they are abit outclassed now.
What I find neat!
Warriors of Chaos: Interesting troops, lore, and I like the blocks of infantry. Worried about how many other WoC players I'll end up fighting against as they seem popular.
Daemons of Chaos: Enjoy the lore, blocks of slaying daemons are interesting, who doesn't want atleast one of each greater daemon on their mantle? Worried about how many other DoC players I'll end up meeting as they seem to be a strong army.
Skaven: Lots and lots of troops to sprawl over the battlefield, interesting tools and lore. Just abit worried about fear/panic and getting frustrated over their being frail.
Beasts of Chaos: The original reason I wanted to go fantasy, units of ramshackle looking beastmen are interesting, along with the other monsterous units they get. Mainly worried about their being outclassed with 7th edition and if they'd lose their monsterous units once they are updated (Warriors of Chaos seem to have alot of them now).
So...that's me and my current status! Any advice, assistance or suggestions in anything related to these armies would be much appreciated!
If you like really large armies for your points I'd go with skaven. They're a horde army so the have A LOT of troops on the field compared to other armies. The only down side to his is having to paint all those guys, oh and carrying a whole lot of dice for all of them.
Welcome to LO!
Hey, thanks for the response!
After the dust settled after Christmas day my indecision has too.
I received some Warriors of Chaos, as well as some Chaos Daemons. So now I have units for 40k and fantasy, hooray. I suppose I can even switch out the bases and make those daemons fantasy too. Three armies going at once is what anyone who can't make a decision needs.
If you do Chaos Deamons, think about bit about being flexibily with your basing, which could let you swap out between round and square bases. This would let you play both games with the same figures.
Any help on ideas on how to make these bases easily swappable would be appreciated. I've already glued my bloodletters to their bases though.
Did you already glue to the square bases? If so, you're probably OK. If you glued them to the round bases, just make yourself some 25 mm x 25mm square bases, build up the corners and use magnets to hold them in place.
