Hi. I'm Kevin Bender, an 11 year old Warhammer 40k player. I have an army of 25 tactical marines with 2 missile launchers and 2 flamers. I have a space marine Leader and Librarian as HQ and a 5 guy assault squad and a 4 guy bike squad. I also have a Rhino. [SIZE=7]AND I KEEP ON GETTING KILLED BY THESE 2 HIVE TYRANTS!
They have this huge toughness and, well, huge everything that makes them invincible. I read up on Tyranid tactics and figured out how to get a bit better against this guy's Tyranid army, but those Hive Tyrants are just too strong. I know what he's trying to do when he does something, but I don't know how to counter it. But could someone please help me with the Hive Tyrants? THe easiest way seems to be a Land Raider or Vindicator, but the Vindicator is not selling at any of the 4 local stores that sell Warhammer 40k (I think they don't make it any more). The Land Raider is insanely powerful but costs 250 points, 285 with the Hunter-Killer missile (gotta love that thing), and 300 with all the upgrades to get rid of those things that hide in cover then pop outa nowhere. So. The big question is, what should I do? Do I need a tank or heavy support? Should I get a dreadnought? Terminators? And I don't know if the Land Raider is worth it cuz that's another tyranid squad that will take 2 turns with 2 missile launchers to kill. And that's 2 turns I need to be shooting at the 2 Hive Tyrants. Help me! Somebody help me please!
hey i am 11 years old too, welcome to LO.
Dark Eldar: The Kabal Of the Black Heart: Bloody Claw division.
Black Legion: Division 666
Vampire Counts Von Castein Bloodline: w/l/t
Welcome to LO. BTW, a good way to get rid of a Hive Tyrant is via heavy weapons (Lascannons suggested). Maybe take a Devastator squad with 4 Lascannons in, or a Predator Annihilator with Lascannon sponsons. Good luck. ^_^
Hi, I'm 14 and also new. Hive Tyrants have given me problems too. SMs are capable of dealing with them if you use the right units. Vindicare assassins are a good, if often ignored way of of killing them, hitting on a 2+, wounding on a 4+ and no save and only 50pts. Lascannons and Plasma weapons kill them, the best way to get lascannons is a preadator, land raiders have just as many lascannons but at almost double points.
Predator Annihilator with 3 Lascannons, my friend.
And a devastator squad with 4 lascannons or 4 plasma cannons will do fine as well.

first don't use a vehicle, TMC have a nasty habit of tearing these apart,
I presume that they are winged or are they both simple walking,
if one of them is winged than take that one out first, don't try to kill them both in the same turn it simply won't work.
PC and LC are a good bet as these can easiliy kill them, consider into taking landspeeders with multi-melta's, moving 12" and then firing 3 MM will cause some serious pain to him, landspeeders are also cheep and won't go down easy if one tries to get them into cc
Hey, i'm 12, and i collect tyranids, I am invincible... MWUHAHAHAHA!!!
if you are reading this signature, then you are wasting you're time, and i am wasting my time by writing it, so run along now, jimmy, run along.
I'm 15 and mainly play 13th company but alos guard from time to time. I find the easiest way to deal with a TMC is to either shoot it to smouldering ashes with a long fang squad armed with four lascannons, or to slap them silly with a sqaud of storm claws with two power fists and a power weapon hitting on 3+ with mark of the wulfen accompanied by a wolf lord with a frost blade. Thats one nasty squad!
But you can't do that so i think you should use a devastator squad armed with lascannons or beef up your independent characters with power weapons of power fists and stick them with a tactical squad as a meat shield.
