Hi, My name is Degan. I'm 15 living in Rimforest. I have been wanting to get into Warhammer for along time but, really couldn't because of money problems. Now I have the money for it somewhat and can't really choose between Warriors of Chaos, High Elves, Lizardmen and Vampire Count. I like the WoC because they just look alsome and the Chaos Warriors with toughness 4, strength 4 (or 6 with GW) and the Khorne Lord on a Juggernaut is wicked. On the other hand they have no shooting other than magic and that kidda sucks. The HE are the masters of magic and they're Special Units are the coolest and they always attacks first....WOW. On the other hand, they are WEAK!!! The Lizardmens are..........well I just love their Warriors. And the Vamps. OMG!!!! they are ALSOME!!! You can raise Zombies or Skeletons behind the enemy....WOOOOOOOOOOW! but than again you don't have alot of tactical choices and it sounds like a boring battle. Any help?
Lizardmen or Vampires.
Welcome to the boards, hopefully you'll find it informative and friendly. I encourage you to pop over to the FB Armies forum, and take a look at this thread. You should at least find it a handy reference point, as well as a good place to ask more formally.
Read and adhere to The Rules, and you'll do just fine here.

Welcome aboard. Yes the HE are weak. But their job, with the ASF rule, is to destroy the units in front of them. Sword masters generally can do that, white lions try, PG are just trying, and spearman get lots and lots of attacks. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. I play HE and love them.
Warriors of Chaos I believe have the best looking Heavy cav. And I play Bretonnias also. It depends on which mark you give them. For if they are frenzied a good general will lead them around by the nose. They have some great heavily armoured infantry, possibly the best around. I said possibly. And they look awesome.
LM have a new army book therefore we are seeing alot of them, new army disease. I understand that they are pretty easy to paint up to look very cool. Hey that does not apply to the bigger models. They have some unigue artillery peices, cool skirmishers, awesome looking detailed monsters, and pretty tough infantry. Thier magic can be overwhelming.
VC do not have to worry about being scared as they are all undead. You kill alot of them and the next turn they are all raised back or nearly all. It is disheartening to play against. They have some nice spells which at the right time can be very fun to use. I am talking about the dance spell or whatever they call it.
Therefore it all depends on your style of play. All you have to ask yourself several questions.
Do I want a shooting army? Then your answer has to be HE or LM.
Do I want a magic army? Vampires, LM and HE are capable of dominating the magic phase.
Do I want a moving army? HE or WoC, with LM next and undead next. We have all seen the movies sombies shamble forward.
Close Combat. WoC, LM, HE and undead, although the undead will stay and stay.
Sorry for taking so long internet not working, but I'm a combat person. I tried to play the dwarfs but I just couldn't. I would always be playing wood elves and high elves so when I got in to combat I destroyed them with no problem. but I could NEVER get to their line. they shot so many arrows that even my stone hard dwarves dropped to never get up. I tried to get thunderers but they became the main focus of the enemy archers. then I tried to use them as a detraction and I won three times in a row but then they pulled out their BIG guns. I bought a cannon and 2 bolt throwers and they used their speed to get to them. not even the iron breakers could stop them (which were put in front off hill the cannon was positioned on) they used weak spearmen to attack the ironbreakers(which made short work of them ) and used their chariots (HE) or Wardancers (WE) to slaughter the crew. I bought a Master Engineer to add some muscle but still no use. the I changed him to a Slayer and it was a little better but he couldn't join the crew so he was alone. Then some more slayers and they were a lot better but then I had to give up their purpose in the army. Go in and KILL!!! So my main focus on tactics, Combat, was destroyed without the slayers or Ironbreakers in combat at the front of the army, My tactic was useless. so I sold my army of dwarves to my teacher (the WE player) for $300 and now I want to start over.
You sound like the kind of player I am. A lot of my friends have "shooty" elf armies so I wanted something I could use to compete with them. Having read through my Warhammer book, I identified an army that elves loahte: Daemons of Chaos.
Put the "cheese" swords down everyone!
While some people may say daemons of chaos are "broken", I'd have to say just the opposite. Sure, some DOC players can be jerks and run incredibly mean lists, but that takes the fun out of it entirely. Daemons are very diverse and have many different ways that they can be utilized. I think it's very fun to make a diverse army that is fun, with the potential to get beaten, than just have one that annihilates anything. Play into the lore, it's a ton of fun!
Particularily I love Khorne, but am also very fond of Nurgle. Khorne loves to get in close and rip stuff to shreds while Nurgle can march all day and take one heck of a beating. Tzeentch is very magic orientated while Slaanesh is very fast, but both are weaker. Four different lores, but all one army.
That's just my take on it and I think I may try a different army. Don't sell your armies though! Learn what makes different armies tick; I know I could make some mean anti-daemon armies if I wanted and I may just do that in the future!
Good luck and welcome to the forums!
I think I could make a ALSOME Daemons of Chaos Army. Personal I'm Khorne. I like Slaanesh but Nurgle and Tzeentch I can't stand. I've been told that for Slaanesh you can add Dark Elves to the Army as Rare Units as if they are Dogs of Wars. Well anyway I think have the God of Skulls and the Lord of Pleasure combined would be killer. Use Khorne Strength and Slaanesh Speed would be the Fastest and Strongest Killing Machine. But The decision is to be mortal or command the daemons as a Bloodletter on Juggernauts.
