I am brand new to the table top gaming scene. In fact my son got the battle of the skullpas box for his birthday. We are now trying to learn the rules by playing simple battles and adding things step-by-step (cannon, magic, etc.). I found this forum looking for information on the www, awesome! It really helped me a lot understanding some complicated rules, thanks for that.
Although the startes box is nice, he wants to collect high elves (step-by-step so it will take some time). For me, I am looking at building an empire or bretonnia army myself. Not sure yet which one I will take.
Although I will not able to contribute a lot to the forum (being a noob ;-) ) I am happy that I can pick your brains and ge to learn more about this fantastic game.
Welcome to the site!
You've picked the right place if you've come for answers! I'm not a Fantasy player myself, but there are loads of people around that would be more than willing to answer any questions you have!
I hope you and your son enjoy the hobby!
Enjoy your time on the boards,
Welcome to LO. Glad we can be of service.
You cannot go wrong with Empire, I play them (amongst other things) and find them very interesting and challenging.
Hope you and your son enjoy the hobby for many years to come.
ps: don't worry about the noob thing, you'd be surprised how many times a "noob" asks a question that gets the whole community scratching it's head.
See you around.
thanks for the welcome. I will go for Bretonnia (after eading most op the threads related to both armies)
Very solid choice. Knights, knights andmore knights.
Best of luck.
welcome aboard. Your story sounds much like mine. I got into 40k space marines. One weekend I made the mistake of taking my daughter. At first she was interested in sisters of battle until she saw a fantasy game with magic being played. She feel in love with the HE and magic. Now she has moved on to a lord on a star dragon. Because of that I have all kinds of extra models to make my own lion themed army.
Because I knew I was going to have to learn a new gaming system I had to get my own army. It quickly got down to Bretonnias or Empire. No one at the local gaming store was playing the Knights therefore I went with Bretonnias. I am a tank man myself and that is as close as you can get, bigger bundles of knights charging across the field.
Family games are nice but if your understanding of the rules are as weak as I started with you can pick up some bad habits. Please feel free to pm me about anything which comes across your mind. My daughter is only nine and beganing to get the basics of the game down.
