I actually joined LO a while ago, but never intro'd myself for some reason, and since I have exams coming up and need to avoid revising - here it is!!!
I used to play Lizardmen back when I was about 12-14ish, then quit the hobby as I didn't have the patience to paint (and my High Elf friend started beating me and wouldn't stop!!!) I've slowly got back into it over the past few months, but haven't got an army ready yet. This is mainly cos I can never pick an army AND stick with it!! Fortunately, I'm not going beyond these three:
for Vampires, I have 20 zombies made and painted, a corpse cart made not painted, a vampire still in bits and 5 blood knights in bits.
for Dark Elves I have 5 cold one knights mostly made and very nearly totally painted.
for Empire, I have 20 state troops, 20 flagellants, 2 wizards and a helblaster totally in the box still.
Since joining LO and thinking about doing fantasy again, I've read many of those "not sure which army to collect" type posts, but i could only narrow it down to these three because - vampires and DE have great character, models and tactics, empire has pretty good models, great character and fantastic tactics. I'd defo collect empire if their state troops were nicer models, I just can't get offer the lack of shoes+floppy hats+baggy clothes... I have been considering using bretonnian men-at-arms as substituts!
So at the moment I'm going to assemble and paint what I have, then buy random units/characters for the three and (really slowly I realise) build up 3 small armies!!!
Building up three armies at a time? Well, at least the sheer variety of figures you will be painting means you won't get board Good luck with your exams, and I hope you beat your friend's High Elves some time!
Welcome to the boards!
I'm not a Fantasy player myself, but there are plenty of people on these boards who will be more than willing to help with any questions you may have!
If you need help finding revision distractions then get in touch, I seem to have mastered the art of finding everything else more interesting!
Enjoy your time on the boards,
