hi, im getting back into gaming when i come back from deployment. I am going to start an IG army for my friendly, non cheese, club games and then im going to start an army to be super competitive any sugestions on a not to cheesy competitive army in 40k.
also im going to do the same thing for fantasy but with empier for friendly games and then a borderline WAAC just to crush one friend of mine once and a while any suggestions
Welcome to LO, it's always good to have old players rejoin the tabletop wargaming community
As for army help, I think getting some games in first would help a lot, or perhaps a list or two with a specific theme / play style in mind. A lot of the updated armies tend to have various styles of play that makes it difficult to give suggestions from scratch.
Welcome back to the hobby!
As to "super competitive," it's kind of hard to say. I'd say start with looking at all the armies out there and see which appeals to you in general (not necessarily for competitive purposes). Try to decide how you'd want to play. In-your-face aggression? Sit back and shoot? Big, lumbering mass of troops stalking across the battlefield? Fragile, high-speed surgical striking units? Some combination? Thinking like this will narrow your choices, and make it easier for others to offer advice.
