This past week I decided to get back into 40k with a couple of friends after having stopped for a few years, and I really looking forward to picking up the hobby again. I plan to continue my Chaos Space Marine army, and have already bought and read through most of the new Codex. I haven't picked up the new rulebook yet, but I have been able to flip through my friend's. Are there any big changes in the rules I should be prepared for?
Otherwise, I hope I can become a contributing member here.
welcome to the forums! Glad you found and chose LO, it's the best place you could come to to discuss your hobby.
The fifth edition came with some changes, yes. But don't worry, you'll catch on in no time. Blast weapons don't roll to hit anymore, but instead they scatter (like ordnance used to). Close combat has become a little more deadly. Fearless can now be disadvantage. You can shoot through area terrain (if you have true line of sight to at least a part of the target). There is no more target priority, but intervening models (friend or foe) grant the target cover saves. Etc... A myriad of small changes you will quickly become accustomed to.
Good luck getting back into the hobby! Though I am no friend of the traitors. :p
Be sure to check out the forum rules, just in case. And feel free to hit me (or one of the mods) up if you have any questions!
Have fun and good luck with your dice,
Welcome to LO. What edition did you play before you stopped 3rd or 4th.
WH 40k Armies (W/L/D):
Tyranid: 2250 Points of Awesome (5/4/1)
Necrons: 1000 Points (4/0/1)
I stopped during 4th edition, maybe three or four years ago (don't exactly remember).
Hello Chaos Marine Soleran! It is with great joy that the daemons in the warp celebrate your return to the fold! Slaanesh loves his mortal followers, for it is through them that he can reach out and caress the mortal realms! May your trials lead to triumphs, may Slaanesh grant you ecstasy in battle!
