I'm new to the online world, so be gentle with me.
I've been fascinated with 40k since I was a young, when my brother got a nice shiny Space Crusade for Christmas one year. I couldn't get into playing it though; it was one of those things that just didn't "flick my switch". But I loved the models and the fluff that went with it.
I've since grown up (apparently) and got into all the fiction and books again (mainly Space Marines, but Iím partial to a bit of Chaos too), and more recently my wife relented and bought me a Venerable Dreadnought as "something to do" as Iíd always wanted to paint some models. Little did she know what a can of worms she has opened. Iíve only been painting for about 3 months and I find it a great way to de-stress. My Dreadnought sucked...... and have since seen the errors of my ways, but smaller projects since have got better with each time. Iím currently working on a Land Speeder Storm, with the scouts and Iíve got a Predator waiting for my next one.
So thatís a little about me..... Hi to everyone who reads this and Iíll probably see you all somewhere in the vast realms of the Imperium.
Greetings from on high! Welcome to LO, and may you seek all that you wish to find, and find that you wish to seek.
Undoubtedly you will want to check out the 40K Fluff sections, and the Black Library parts of the forum. Do you mind telling us what armies you are looking at starting up, and what you are looking to do with them? Be sure to check out all of the sections of the forum. Maybe you will find something that piques your interest...
See you on the forum!
Light a fire for a man, and he will be warm for a night. Light a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
Kindred spirits randomrhino. My painting is not the best either, but getting better. My wife to be got me the Ironclad Dreadnought for my last birthday, and when I showed her the finished article she said "Thats cute." , completely missing the point. My storm is still awaiting construction, but i'm thinking of leaving the passengers out, and using them to convert up a normal scout squad. Be careful on here. It can become a great distraction from actually getting any modelling done !
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
Thank you both for the welcome.
Hawk - As for what army i'm going for, I don't think I've decided yet. I love SM in general, I'm painting Ultramarines at the moment, just as there nice and simple with plenty of reference stuff to look at for ideas. Once I've improved my skills i'd like to go for something with a lot more detail, Space Wolfs or something like that. Then maybe design my own chapter, then I can get creative on my own background fluff. I've had a look on the forum and i'll be delving in deeper to the fluff sections to get ideas.
praxis - My wife did the same thing. Looked at it with a sort of childish look and said thats OK........ And I made the major mistake of glueing the arms on before painting it. I'll say that I've learnt from that mistake. :-) As for my storm, its getting there. The storm itself needs to have the "battle damage" and general ware/tear done to it as it looks too new. As for the scouts i'm having to make do with the originals for the moment. Every time I go into GW to look at new bits the wife complains..... Best keep her happy for a while and then just drop it into converstation i've bought something.
Thanks again both, I'll catch you again.
