Just bought myself assault on black reach and i'm loving it. It's the first time i've played any games like this but i've already got my eye on island of blood!
Well i'll see you all around the boards.
Welcome to the world of Warhammer
Hey there Snipersunset, well that's a good start at least you have two playable 40k armies now & if your thinking about 'Island Of Blood' then you will 2 playable armies for Fantasy as well hehe. So now that have 'Assault On Black Reach' do you plan on expanding/adding any more units to your Space Marines &/or Orks? & do you have anyone else to have some friendly games with? that way you could learn the basics... for now & do you have the Space Marines &/or Orks codexes... not that you them yet?
Well anyways you will get alot of helpful advice here so enjoy your stay & welcome to LO & to the hobby/World of Warhammer
sorry : Double Post :

One question, how do i choose an army to build up?
Get used to the rules first with the box set then if you can, head into your local games workshop, website etc and look at the armies.
Have a think on the style you want to play (ie fast, brute strength etc) and ask on these forums or in your local store and try to narrow down an army. I then recommend you buy their codex and have a read through it and then take it from there maybe starting off with a small army and having a few games with them.
Is there anyway to practice how to play when i'm on my own?
Just play both sides tbh if you want. It will teach you the rules and some basic tactics but you will know what the other side are planning technically. I do it sometimes if I have nobody to game with.
Is there anything online that runs like the game? I know there's Warhammer online but it's not like the tabletop game.
Not really unless you look to Dawn of War but it's still not really too similar enough to learn from. Great game though
